Post by: nastynickel on November 28, 2010, 10:50:18 am
I finally pulled the smoker from the back corner and started to work on it again.I was trying to have it ready forthanksgivving but power outage from a storm left me with out power for a few days, hopefully I will get it done for Christmas/ newyears.

preliminary fire showed I needed more air so I installed this airvent on the side of the firebox

handle and temp gages installed

counter weight installed, the piece in the center on the top of the door was my first attemt at the counter weight. It didn't work properly and looked funny so I cut it off. I will grind the remainder of it off to clean up the lid.

front view, notice that I changed the grill on the side of the smoker

seems to be pretty well balanced

counter weight tucks up next to the smoke chamber and is also used for a door stop.

I have built the main grate. Still need to build the uper shelf.

this is the grill that I bought at LOWES and installed on the trailer. I removed the big airtank that I was going to make into a grill ( now itwill be used for a backyard smoker )

another view to show shape of counter weight arms, I still need to cap the ends .

I still need to make the front shelf and do some more detail work. Then its sandblast time and paint.

nice smoker, nice drag strip racer, and nice four point. only thing i never liked about drive ons was taking the wheels off always sucked for me. of course that was mostly a height issue(read bangs head)
