Discussion started on

Just returned from Kansas City with a new pellet cooker. Will assemble it tomorrow, and do a 600 degree burn. Sunday will be the maiden voyage with some pork (butt). Pictures will follow.

AWESOME... Congrats.  Can't wait to see the pictures of the new rig and pictures of it in action.

Are you planning on using it out at any of the upcoming cook-offs?

I will as soon as I get the transportation situation for it taken care of. I had to completely disassemble it to get it in my car. And that wasn't pretty. I guess I'll have to buy a truck now.

600 degree on a pellet cooker???  I know my FEC will go to 425 or so.  Why do you need that hot?

I guess it's for searing. Or maybe it's because the digital option can. I do know the guys around Kansas City are doing pizzas on these things. My comment was only about the first burn to make sure there's nothing in there I don't want. I looked at the new FEC, and it was too small for what I wanted. I'm also looking into adapting a vertical smoker box to this.

Which cooker did you get?? I tried to do a google on Country cooker, but I did not find the one.  Are you looking to do a whole hog??  Cause I an see where the FEC runs short of space.

However, I have done 12 butts at one time and could have fit 16, so room it has.  I think Candy Sue made a whole hog holder for her FEC, but it had to go in diagonal.

Looking forward to seeing your new cooker.  I am enjoying my pellet machine.

Here's the link to where I got it: http://www.kck.com/country_bbq_smokers_pellet_smokers_grills_pits.html. The one I got is the 570. It won't quite do a whole hog, but it's close. What I like about this one is I'm going to adapt a vertical smoke box on the end of it to hang sausage.

Nice looking smoker.  Let us know your feedback on it after you use it a few times.  Wonder how well it stacks up against the Traegers..

Cool Pellet pooper.  That is the brand I found when I googled around.  It is made by Louisiana grills right?

I am still a little confused on your statement that the New FEC did not have enough room, cause the FEC is much bigger than the CS-570.  But I want to see you add a vertical to one, I think that would be cool.  Where are you going to attach a vertical to that??  Once complete, please post a picture, I am really courious.

It will still be awhile before I get the vertical box for it. The guy in Kansas that makes them hasn't made mine yet. Here's a picture of the Fast Eddie I looked at.

That is Eddy's new Grill, which does look cool but does look a little small for me.  However, it is not a FEC which is the much larger smoker.

Now it make more sense.

I still want to see the vertical attachment you are thinking.
