Title: Rock Springs Cafe Beef Mini Comp - Summer BBQ Series
Post by: Mike (AZBarbeque) on May 19, 2011, 01:49:26 pm
This is part of the new Rock Springs Mini BBQ Summer Series leading up to their big October Boo & Que event.

This month's meats are in the Beef Category, Brisket & Burgers..

These events will be done like the mini Brisket comps we do.  You may cook these at home and bring them to the event or you can cook at the event.

Teams can show up starting at Noon on the day of the event and the event will begin at 5 pm with the first turn in.  2nd Turn in will be at 5:45 pm.

You do not have full site setups, the site sizes are just 15 X 10 or 20 X 10. We can work with you if you need something bigger, but we don't have a ton of space for these events.

Samples to the Public are encouraged as this event will be in conjunction with their Monthly Hogs in Heat events.  Samples will work the way we normally do them, $2 per sample to the public with $1 going back to the teams and $1 going to the charity that is out helping out with that month's event.  We plan to have 4 different charities for the 4 different summer events.

Normal price for the Hogs in Heat event is $12 per person, anyone from our group will get a discount of $2 per person, so our costs will just be $10 per person, so you are encouraged to stay and enjoy the event and bands as well as encouraged to invite all of your friends & family..

Cost to compete in these mini events $20 per team per month to enter in advance, $25 via Pay Pal or $30 day of event.  For each event you enter, you will receive a $25 credit toward the October event, so if you compete in all 4 of these Rock Springs events, you will get $100 off your entry cost for the October Boo & Que event.

The winner of each month's event will also receive an additional $25 off the entry into the October event, so if you enter and win all 4 of these mini events, you will get $200 off your entry to the October event.  (Entry for that event has not been determined yet, but it will most likely be around $200 - $225.).

Come on out and enjoy a fun event, get the public a chance to taste some great BBQ.

Entry Forms will be available Shortly..

Come on out and support this great concept for Summer BBQ and Rock Springs.  They have been great to us over the past few years and we have a fantastic relationship with them.

This should be a fun summer..

Visit http://www.azbarbeque.com/forums/upcoming-events/rock-springs-summer-mini-bbq-series/ for more info on the entire series.

You need to turn in enough for 6 judges...  This can be sliced, shredded, cubed, etc.

Hey all, this event will be the last one for the series as we just had a meeting with Rock Springs Cafe & have decided to cancel the Labor Day weekend event.  Just too many other events going on that weekend.

Hope to see lots of you out at this event, our Bisbee event on Labor Day and our big Boo Bash Throwdown in October..

Awesome Chris, look forward to seeing you all out there..  ;)

Teams can enter more than one Brisket and/or Ribs.  Entry fee is $20 per pair.  Discount for October's event is only valid for first entry...

So, if you want to try 2 or 3 different Brisket Recipes or Rib Recipes, this is your chance.  See what works and scores well with the Judges..

Post by: Mike (AZBarbeque) on July 25, 2011, 07:30:52 pm
Yes, please plan on cooking at home and just finishing on site..

These small events are set up that way.  Enjoy cooking in the comfort of your home, wrap the Brisket when it's done, Wrap the ribs, then bring them all onsite and prepare your boxes on site and finish your ribs as necessary.

Teams may show up as early as 3 pm for this coming event..

Remember, we also have a BBQ Sauce contest this month as well..  ;)

Post by: Mike (AZBarbeque) on July 29, 2011, 05:09:31 pm
Just one week left until this event.

Brisket & Ribs.  Cook them at home & bring them out, just like at the Brisket events we have done in the past.

Just $20 to enter both.  If you want to do more than one Brisket or Ribs, $20 per.

This is a great way to test out a few different recipes with fantastic feedback from CBJ's.

But wait, there's more..  Your $20 entry gets your a $25 credit into the October Rock Springs Cafe Boo Bash Throwdown.  A $10,000 4 Meat BCS Event.  Pretty impressive..  And, if you place 1st in either category, you get another $25 credit and if you place 2nd, you get an additional $15 credit.  Not too bad.

Hope to see lots of you out here.  Come on out and support Rock Springs Cafe & this great event..

Title: Re: Rock Springs Cafe Beef Mini Comp - Summer BBQ Series
Post by: Mike (AZBarbeque) on July 31, 2011, 07:46:32 pm
Chris, it's been almost Non-Existent at these mini events.  I wouldn't plan for people's choice.

If there are people there who want some samples, you can either just give it to them or ask them for $1 per sample and you keep the money.

Title: Re: Rock Springs Cafe Beef Mini Comp - Summer BBQ Series
Post by: Mike (AZBarbeque) on August 01, 2011, 11:24:51 pm
Right now, in hand, I have 3, but I have another 5 - 8 that say they are bringing them, so I am hoping for about 10 - 15 total.

Come on out and compete.

This is a GREAT initial event for new teams or BBQers looking to possibly get into competition.

This is a GREAT Event to try out different recipes for your Brisket & Ribs with true CBJ's.  We will have 100% CBJ's for this one.

This is a GREAT Event to show Rock Springs we appreciate everything they have done for us and will be doing for us.  Remember, they are sponsoring the Big BOO Bash Throwdown in October.  A $10,000 4 Meat Event.

By paying your $20 to compete in this event, you get $25 credit toward that event.  IF you win either category, you get another $25 credit, if you finish 2nd, you get another $15 credit.  Not too bad a deal.

Hope to see lots more of you out here..

That's why I moved out of from Phx to begin with, geeez. That and I was in need to be associated with a successful college athletics program. The Phx area just doesn't seem to have a D1 program, I looked high and low and couldn't find one there.

At least it would be a little cooler in Yuma than that furnace you live in, and it would be closer to San Diego, my dream home.  Its probably too early to be picking on ASU anyway. Now that you have Lurch at quarterback im sure you'll get back on track. You could easily be 1-2 or 0-3 going into conference play. You guys signed up for some tough non-conf games. Oh well back on the topic of insulting the valley rats. Your momna is sooo big..... :D

Hey Mike,

There was some chatter about people's choice earlier in the posts. Will there be one?  Also on the add for the event it says there is all you can eat BBQ.  Is that from Rock Spring's menu, or are we cooking for that?
Title: Re: Rock Springs Cafe Beef Mini Comp - Summer BBQ Series
Post by: Mike (AZBarbeque) on August 04, 2011, 07:04:43 am
Ken, the people's choice for these summer series has been almost non-existent.  You are welcome to do it if you want, but I wouldn't come with lots of food for it.

These events are in Conjunction with Rock Springs Cafe's monthly Hogs in Heat event which is the all you can eat BBQ.  They cook it and serve it.

The cost is $12 per person, but any team or AZBarbeque member out there for this event will get it for $10 per person if they are interested.

Hope to see you out there..
