Good Sam BBQ Showdown / Re: INFO THREAD

I talked with the Maricopa County Health Department today & they said we only have 4 teams who have gotten a Health Permit to do samples out at this event.

4 people doing samples will NOT cut it.  Come on all, we are trying to make this a reoccurring event and the only way to do that is to make the sponsor and the public happy.

The entire reason Good Sam is sponsoring this event is that they are trying to give the RVers coming to the show something cool & hip to do.  Just walking around smelling the BBQ isn't what they are looking for.  IF we can't support the event, they won't support us.  If we can step up and help make the event a success, then next time they will just do BBQ Vendors and not a comp.

They have about 1500 RVer's already registered for this event.  That means a lot of people will be coming through our area after smelling this great BBQ all night and they will be looking for Samples.

The Charity is sending out a group to run the ticket sales and they have also been promoting the event.  Please consider doing the samples out there.  It's good for your future business, it's good for our Sponsors, it's good for our Charity, it's good for the Public and it's good for securing this event again in the future.  Green Mountain has donated a Smoker and we have several other prizes donated for the people who buy sample tickets, so they are really committed to making the sampling a success.  Please do your part to make it a success as well.

You HAVE to get your permit by this Friday or the price goes up.  Don't miss out, please step up and let's make this event as good as we can.  The weather is predicted to be amazing, so cook up some BBQ & interact with the public and the folks at PIR and Good Sam & let's see if we can secure more events out at PIR and out at more Good Sam Rallys.

Next item, each team will be getting 6 wristbands for the event & 2 parking passes.  If you need more parking passes, just let them know when you check in at the Will Call Trailer as you arrive.  They have your Team name & head cook name.  Check in there, get your credentials & then they will direct you where to go.

Lastly, don't forget about the Appetizer Party on Friday night.  Once again, this is something Good Sam is looking forward to, so let's make it the best one yet.  We have lots of great prizes for the Appetizer party, so don't miss out.

Safe Travels & we will see you all soon.

It's looking like it's going to be on the cooler & windy side this year at this comp, so come prepared.  It's also calling for some rain.

Safe Travels everyone, we look forward to seeing you all this weekend.

Selling one of my offset smokers for no reason other than I don't need it anymore, even though it has been my favorite cooker for the past couple years.

- Over 1,050 sq inches of cooking space, thick gauge steel. Smoker is apx. 500 pounds. This is not the same Oklahoma Joe's smoker you see for sale now at Wal-mart or Lowes. They stopped making this model 3 years ago before OK Joe's was bought out and manufacturing switched elsewhere.

- 2 years old, always covered and cleaned after use
- Very minimal surface rust on top of firebox/heating plate. No other rust.
- 2 OE thermometers up top
- High Temp RVT at all joints
- New gasket kit around all openings
- Two new latches for cooker door
- Includes all original cooking grates, racks, some never used.
- Includes OK Joe's cover
- Took it apart 2 cooks ago (few months) and thoroughly cleaned it and that is when I added the new gasket kit and RVT. Has good airflow and holds temp well for being an inexpensive offset smoker.
- Doesn't include pictured Tel-Tru thermometer, but I'll leave it on for an additional $50.

I paid over $500 new and have put apx. $150 into it and like stated above, is in great shape and very clean. Won't find a better smoker in this price range.

Asking $400 OBO. Open to trades, but don't have anything in mind. Best to text me at 702-five-two-three-68thirtysix.

These next two weeks are going to be crazy, but fun.

We start it off this week with the Freedom RV BBQ Throwdown.  This is the longest running BBQ Comp in Arizona.  Don't miss out.  We still have room for Teams, Judges & friends.  If you don't want to compete or judge, we still invite you to come out & join us on Friday at 6:30 pm for our Famous Appetizer party that starts at 7 pm.  Then on Saturday, we invite you to come out & enjoy the event.  Are you looking to buy an RV?  Well Freedom RV is the "Official" RV Dealer of AZBarbeque and our members.  We have a great partnership with them and look forward to purchasing our next RV with them as well.  See everyone later this week.  Safe Travels.

Then next week, we are on to the Inaugural Good Sam BBQ Showdown out at PIR in conjunction with the Good Sam/Camping World RV Show.  We still have room for more teams.  Judging is pretty much locked up for this event, but we could put you on a waiting list if you were interested.  Same set up, we have our Famous Appetizer party at 7 pm on Friday, but come out early as there will be live entertainment & fireworks before.  Then on Saturday, we will have the Competition and our Charity, CURE SMA, will be out there helping us with the public Sampling Tickets.  It's going to be a great, fun event.  Come on out, spend the day.  Bring the RV, spend a few days.  It's going to be a blast.

Hope to see lots of you out at these events.  Have a great few weeks and safe Travels.
