In some states it does.  :D
After viewing the pictures from this past weekend, I have a feeling that Johnny would like to know what states you are talking about Ralph.

AMEN JOHNNY, Like i always say- "wer'e all here cause wer'e not all there!" Anyway i honestly believe that no matter what you cook on, you can produce great bbq once you learn about your particular pit and it's quirks! And out of respect for all of us we can kid all we want but be careful about stepping over the line concerning others pits, technique, meat, rubs, etc! I too have felt slighted or disrespected in the past at a contest but thats in the past and i choose to move on- cause life's way to short!!! let's enjoy the good times while they last! Just my opinion, thanks, PAT

BRUCE, How much space would you say are the doors not touching? 1/4 inch,1/8 inch 1/16 ? I might have a solution for you other than silicone! PAT

We use aluminum tape on the doors.  We have never used the doors anyways.  The Pro Q latching stackers make access easy.

The doors are easily tweaked to make them seal up a little better...just open the door, grab at the top and bottom and tweak in the direction of the gap, worked like a champ on my 20.   I have never noticed the leakage (even before tweaking) on mine to be a problem.

OH YEA Quick tip!!

One of my latches fell off one of the doors on my 20 when I was moving it to the garage. Unfortunately I did not notice until later, so the parts are gone.  Well i have a few ECBs that I have collected for the grates. (Makes good fire grates in a UDS) Anyway I was able to use one of the latches off of one of the ECBs on the excel 20.  Its a little different but works great!

Thanks for the idea... mine leaks quite a bit from both doors. Time to seal that sucker up!!!  >:(
