Pork butt at Fry's

I don't know what section to post this, but the Fry's at Alma School and Main has (well, had, since I just left) fresh pork shoulder picnic, at $0.88/LB!  Yep 88 cents a pound.  There was a sign up, and the new sale started today, so I'm not sure.  (Could have been left over from last weeks ad, but I doubt it.)    Sales ad has Boston Pork Butt at $1.39.

I saw them earlier, when I was there, but I hadn't read the ad then.  (I assumed that they were on the ad, so I didn't get them.)  When I saw that they were NOT on the ad, I went back and got the last 2 that were out.  I'm going back in the morning, just to see what they have.

If this needs to be moved, will someone please do it?

Currently cooking with a newly built UDS,(thanks to Skouson, my brother) which is my current best smoker.  I've also got a Weber Performer, also from Sterling.  My brothers think I'm CRAZY.  (Strangely, they're right.)

It seems most of the picnic shoulders with the sale prices really low have a pretty thick fat cap on them. By the time you trim the cap, you're at $1.50+ a pound. It still seems like the best buys are the butts at Sams or Costco. If you have a use for the trimmings, it's a great buy. Hell, I spent $.99 a pound for trimmings today.

Did'ja read the first post?  I can't remember which checkstand, because I prefer enhanced "butt."

There is a VERY attractive clerk there, with an "island" accent, though.  Somewhere in the carribean.

A few years ago at the Fry's near me, they had a "Manager's Special" on pork shoulders for .39/lb. ??? I bought everyone they had, filling up a couple of shopping carts. My wife thought I had gone insane, but my Kamados and Foodsaver got quite a workout that day!  ;D

All of their pork lately is the enhanced stuff.  Not good eats for BBQ IMHO.

I try not to get those "enhanced butts" but they are ok for a weekend cook...  There are some good deals on meat at most markets!!! Time to stock up...

So, who has "enhanced butts and breast"? I prefer one stop shopping.

You can find those at most of your Scottsdale markets... The Safeway at DC Ranch isn't so bad

I guess I'll have to move back to Scottsdale. Gilbert is pretty generic.
