Hey all, we are sponsoring the tailgate this Thursday for the Autism Foundations Phoenix Coyotes game and we will be preparing pulled pork sandwiches.

We have decided to go with one of your recipes for the rub and sauce, so if you have something, post it on-line here and we will try it out and report back after the event.

We do like a kick to our food, so don't be shy.  ;D

Here is one I like to use.

1 c turbinado sugar (grind in a spice of coffee grinder)
1/2c sea salt (also ground)
1 tbsp ground black pepper (or use a peppercorn blend!!)
1 tsp cumin
2 tbsp chile powder (best to get your favorite dried chile and grind after removing seeds and stem)
1 tsp celery seed
1 tbsp granualted garlic (garlic powder and salts typically have stems and junk in them)
1 tbsp minced onion (the bottled kind, also ground in a spice or coffee grinder)
1 tsp dry mustard
2 tsp cayenne
1 tbsp paprika
2 tbsp poulrty seasoning

I grind my rubs as well. They stick to the meat a lot better!

Bear or DDog, do either of you want to bring a rub for the Pulled Pork on Saturday at the NASCAR Race?  We will be arriving out there about 10 am and hope to get the pork on by about 10:30 - 11:00.  Hopefully it will only take us 4 or 5 hours to smoke it and we can eat about 3:00 or 4:00 pm.  That's the plan.

Let me know, I would love to try one of your rubs.

We also need one for the Beer Can Chicken if you want.  If not, we can do ours, just thought I would put the offer out there.

Let us know.

There's only 15 to 20 people that R.S.V.P., I'm sure there will be more, but I'm only bringing two Butts.  I am going to pick them up at Costco on Friday.  I let you know how much they weigh once I get them.

Thanks, now I'm really looking forward to it.  Do you need me to marinate it in anything the night prior or are you good to go with just your rub once we get there?

We will be cooking on our grill, we typically just rub and cook as well, we don't ususally marinate overnite like some do.

We will be using some mesquite wood as well as some lump charcoal for this weekend's feast.

Thom, wish you were going to be here to join us.

Went to a Diamondback's game tonight and met a few people from the Pepsi Corporation.  They too will be joining us this weekend for the BBQ feast, so we now have about 25 to 30 people expected.  Should be a great time.

Bear & Ryan, please plan accordingly.

Go # 17... ;D
