I was in Cosco in Tempe this morning and saw they are hawking 3 Treager units and a pallette full of pellets. Don't know if their prices were good or not, but if you interested it might be worth a stop. Was dissappointed they weren't handing out samples.

Their cookers are made in China, and their pellets are elder wood with flavored wood oil. :-[

They looked pretty flimsy. There was a sales guy there explaining the operation to a young couple. I felt like telling them to go on down to BBQ Island and and get a look at several styles before they make the plunge. I personally am not interested in pellet smokers, I like the idea of cooking without having to plug in.

Pellet Poopers have their place, but there isn't that great a difference between quality and crap. ;D

Hi you guys don't appear to like Treagers
I have been using a brinkman offset wood burning pit for about 10 years
I have a friend who has a treager and loves it
Last year I saw the Costco Tr eager road show
I bought the Lil Texas Elite
It is well constructed & works great
I too didn't like the idea it's not traditional
I went to the American Royal in KC last October & saw everything you can imagine being used
The thing I like about the tr eager is on the long cooks it keeps the temp the same all the time
I used to feel beat up after babysitting my pit after 10 or more hours.
Not any more
Don't be too closed minded
God Bless

Does that make everything you cook on it Chinese food?

I guess if you're happy with our economy, by all means support foreign made goods.

Let's not get into a discussion like this! It is made in China, thus the quality sucks. Say that and I have respect. Blame the economy on people buying a Treager, an American company, from Costco, an American company, and you lose respect.

I'm sure the guy at Costco was Chinese sending all of his money back to the motherland. There is a representative at every Costco on west coast stores this week. The Treager company is paying that person's salary, thus supporting the American economy. To add to the defense, if you shop at Costco, you support the Chinese... If you pay taxes, you support the Chinese due to the fact they carry the majority of US debt. If you are passionate about not supporting the Chinese, don't pay your taxes. Let me know how that works out for ya. If you want to save money on your meat, and many other things including Treagers shop at Costco. I prefer to give my money to the locals at BBQ Island, either way people have jobs and at least one family in America is happy for that!

Your rebuttal has merit, but panders to "outsourcing". If the goods are produced here, manufacturing would create more jobs/revenue creating a stronger economy here.

Be careful or you'll be emailing Mike to have him post your apology next!! :-X >:D

He just puts me on "Double Secret Probation". Good luck in Bentonville, and I'll stop by at the Royal. See what I can stir up. ;D ;D

We don't take to kindly to stirrers but if you can find us all the way in the corner in KC, come on over and say hi!! :D

I'll come by and give you my take on the state of the world. ;D ;D

Sorry sis, but I'll call a spade a spade every time (OK, most times). :) ;) ;D
A diss like this belongs on a totally different thread and has nothing positive to add to a Traeger/Costco discussion. If you want to call the guy out, call him out on his apology (via Mike) thread.
Let's all please keep this discussion on the subject of Traegers and Costco.

I simply stated that their line of conversation wasn't going to cause anything but trouble. Don't worry, I will post on that other one shortly.

am considering purchasing a Traeger. Need a new bbq any way so looking into different options. If any of you have a traeger or have had a fair amount of experience cooking on one, I would love to hear your likes and dislikes about this particular brand of pellet cooker.
