Title: Slow cooked some ribs in protest!
Post by: Smokin_Turkey on June 19, 2009, 06:20:23 am
For some of you who already know about this story, I ranted about it to someone here...

My wife wanted to have a Pampered Chef party which I'm totally cool with. (they have great stuff and I used to sell it (briefly)) The day before the party, she tells me I will need to surrender a frozen section of pork tenderloin, which I am still ok with but I made the mistake of asking if I should do anything to have it prepared for the party. (we all know you can't rush pork!)

I get the most dumbfounding response I could have! "No, she just needs it thawed out. She is going to make pork bbq sandwiches IN THE MICROWAVE." We actually fought over this for the rest of the night.

So after everything settles and I call a few BBQ friends to rant, they tell me to get some pics. I couldn't bring myself to take the pics so the wife had to. I was forced to try a sandwich and its as should be expected for a rushed pork anything.. tough, tasteless, and slathered in bbq sauce to attempt to hide it.

These are the pics of the PC consultant doing her evil experiment!

So the next day I vow revenge for my fallen pork! I made ribs and he remaining tenderloin (I was able to save from certain doom in the microwave!) on the kettle. I shouldn't have skipped the foil but I did.. I didnt have anything to put in the foil and didnt feel like running out. Even without the foil step, they came out really good!

So the moral of this story is, never let your pork be used in a pampered chef party! You will have nightmares about my experience I am sure.

ribs in a slow cooker works...but um...there are some fine asian and euro styles that are meant for braising. anythin even slightly suggesting bbq will be quickly followed by the sounds of the bolt slinding back and forth in the receiver.

I've got a microwave.  It hasn't been plugged in for 2 years!  (Why do I even have it?)  Before I moved, I'd use it for melting butter, and thawing out (non meat) stuff.  Rarely, I'd use it for re-heating stuff.  Since I moved, it has just sat there!
