My wife makes "
Stratas" an Italian breakfast dish you prepare the night before and bake off in the oven. Same idea as this bread pudding...torn leftover Italian bread, Italian cheeses, Italian sausage, mushrooms, whatever, topped with a custard of milk and eggs. It all melds overnight and puffs up in the oven like a quiche, only better. You can make it with whatever cheese and meats you want such as cheddar and breakfast sausage. Great when you have a lot of guests but don't want to bang around in the AM and wake everyone up.
