Hello all,
I'm new to this particular forum, but not to forum discussions in general.
I've been a back yard griller for most of my life... starting with an itty-bitty hibachi and countless cheapo charcoal grills; eventually working my way up the ladder to a Weber Kettle, which has since been replaced a Kingsford "Egg"... that is still in use today. Over the years, I've also added (and recently retired) a Charbroil gasser and a Charbroil Gas Smoker. The charcoal grill and the Charbroil grill were incorporated into a home-made island about 10 years ago.
Every few years, I go through the process of rebuilding the Charbroil... until now. I've finally convinced the other half that it's time to tear down the whole thing and start over from scratch. This passed weekend, I started the demo... just in time for the bulk trash pick-up.
Although I'm still in the design stage of the project, construction of the "New" island will commence very soon. However, I have begun the process of acquiring a few of the new toys. The old gas grill is to be replaced with a drop-in, stainless steel 4-burner grill with back burner & rotisserie by Kokomo. I'm also adding a drop-in searing burner by Turbo. My smoker & charcoal grill are to be incorporated into the island as well, as will a fridge, stainless steel drawers, goose-neck grill light, stemware rack and several storage shelves. The top & shelves will be tiled and the body will be sprayed stucco. Access doors for the gas bottles are stainless steel as well.
I hope to post some pics of the process as it develops.
