Hi All,
I've been a lifelong lover of BBQ and have recently joined the group.  I'm very excited to become involved with events and am looking forward to meeting fellow 'quers.

Can someone help me understand the process of becoming involved in the upcoming local competitions (Chandler, Scottsdale)?

Cheers,
Alex

You should at least come out to Havasu if you can and absorb some of it. If not, plenty of people here to answer your questions.

Ya pays yer monies and ya takes yer chances...
OK. Constructive help aside  :D Welcome to the forum. A bit over a year ago, I went out to the Pulte event on the Friday night, just to see what went on. This year, I took the CBJ class, and I've attended 5 competitions so far; though only 2 as a cbj. Mike always has things going on that require extra bodies.
If you're looking to cook in the comps, first realize that it's completely different than cooking for family and friends!
What part of the Basin of the Sun is home, and what is your preferred vessel of smoke?

For cooking, lower and slower. For spices, mo' hotter, mo' better. Habaneros rule!

Hey Alex, great to see you posting.  We would love to see you out at some of the competitions.

Call myself, one of our Ambassadors or one on our competition cookers and they can walk you through what is involved with competitions.

Be warned though, once you start, it is addictive..

Hope to see you out at some of our other events as well, we do have quite a few fun ones.

Enjoy!!
