We are Jason and Bea Coons, newlyweds since June 27th of this year,  and the Prescott BBQ Days was the very first time we have ever done anything like this.  Our boss, Jeff Sawyer, was one of the organizers of this event for his Rotary club's fundraiser and said we should enter the backyard throwdown since we are avid home bbq'ers.  So we did - sounded like a fun way to spend a Saturday.  We had NO idea what to expect and brought our camping stuff to set up our area.  Jason makes his own bbq sauce from scratch and is the bbq'er of the family.  He has a huge Brinkman bbq here at home that we cook everything on (including spaghetti!) and prefer to cook outdoors than in.  So that's it about us - just home barbequers and nothing special.  We will have to admit that we were going to pack up afterwards and go home because after seeing all the creativity of what other teams turned in and the awesome tray displays, we had no hopes of winning anything.  We just brought little platters, dressed them up with garnishes and our food and that was it.  We were pretty shocked and excited to have won something in every category and not bad for rookies I guess.  Mike introduced himself to us and told us about this site, so we registered and will probably compete in the event in November.  Should be fun and another great learning experience and hope to see some of the people we met in Prescott.
