Super hero eh? Hmmm...I'm afraid I'm gonna have to pull the ethnic card and say a Winged Hussar. The Polish cavalry in the 16th and 17th century rode into battle with feathered wings on their back, and played a crucial role in saving all of Europe from the huge Ottoman invasion in 1683, at the battle for Vienna. The sound and sight instilled terror in the enemy, and many simply ran from it. Later in history, these dudes were the bad boys on the field for Napoleon during the unification of the Baltic States. And, of course, they were supreme pit masters!
