-
Great Food, Great Football & Great Memories.....
-
We always open up one gift on Christmas eve. It is always the same thing, new Christmas pajamas for the whole family. It is fun. Last year mine said "Bah Humbug". Nice!! ;D
-
We get together at one family members house, give thanks, take a moment to remember those in the family who cannot join us or has left us & is only with us in spirit and pray for all people in the world...
-
My side of the family gets together every Thanksgiving. We eat our faces off, drink uncontrollably, watch football, and then we drink some more by my parents firepit and make fun each other until someone cries . I guess a typical American family. :)
-
Turkey and watching the Lions getting there ass kicked on Thanksgiving. Enchiladas for Christmas dinner.

I like the mexican food for Christmas idea! I get tired of eating so much turkey during the holidays!

i usually do three stuffings, one regular, one chorizo, one oyster and clam
Artichoke salad, heavenly mashed taters, sweet potatoes, several squash dishes, home made rolls, a turkey and usually a pork loin.

SOS. I think our family tradition is everybody pleading with my wife for all of us to open 1 gift on Christmas Eve, and her trying to say we don't. One year, Rob (Bald since 20) picked a present, and Cyndi asked him 5X if he was sure that was the one he wanted to open. He opened it to find a can of hair spray. We got him that cuz we couldn't find scalp polish...He went on and on about how he got gypped!
:D

Beats the lump of coal my father gave my daughter one year.

My family tradition is eating linguica and eggs on Christmas morning. You slice it into rings, fry it in a skillet, scramble in the eggs and serve it packed in like a bollilo roll. Haven't missed that tradition in five decades and now my son insists on it.
(By the way, linguica is pronounced lin-gwee-saw. That last c is a sedilla...that funny c with a dangling "tail". It is pronounced like an s. That's why Sprout's just spells it "linguisa." (Their linguica is okay, but not smoked as is tradition.)
-
Thanksgiving is right in the middle of deer season. My house is the deer camp .... Between hunting and cooking for a crowd of friends all week, I cook a Thanksgiving meal on Thursday too.
It's amazing how much food and drink we go through in a week!!

Spend with family
-
We celebrate Polska~Dane on December 21st. It is a traditional gift giving day of the Christmas season, as Christmas day itself is a day of rest and of family. In America, we modified the gift-giving aspect and made it a day of traditional foods and feasting - instilling a remembrance of who we are and where we come from. On Christmas Eve, we have the Wigilia, or Christmas Eve Dinner, which is a celebrated occasion and arouses deep feelings of kinship among family members. Then on Christmas day, it's a whole hog gift sharing time....American style!
-
Well we generally visit one of our parents houses and do the normal!
-
Eating way too much and getting together with family. Oh yeah there is that gag gift party every year.
-
Prime Rib for New Year's Day
-
Conspicuous consumption and depletion of our savings account. That and lighting candles for absent companions & loved ones.
-
Smoked Prime Rib on X-mas day.
-
Junk food on Xmas morning so know one has to cook. We broke this tradition last year and did a ham dinner. Maybe it's the start of a new tradition...
-
Lots of them dependent on which holiday of course!
Everything from First footing on January 1st to allowing the servants a day off, (the only one in the year on St Stephans) 26th December! ???

Another holiday season question.
What family traditions do you have for the holidays?
Hot food & cold drinks
-
The biggest holiday we celebrate in our family is thanksgiving and everyone comes to my house and I get the pleasure of smoking a turkey and making from scratch all the fixings including rolls
-
I never have the "traditional" meal for holidays. No turkey for Thanksgiving, ham for Christmas, etc. I always grill something such as steak or prime rib.
-
being a life long foodie i have absolutely no idea of what people do for holidays except work a ton.
-
Lost all family Traditions when I lost the family. Kinda get bummed by the Holidays now. My dog and I will celerate the holidays this year...
-

-

-
Nothing special I usually cook the turkey and my uncle Dan carves it and my Niece says grace that's about the only constant besides going and paying my wife's tree a visit on Christmas due to the fact she passed away!
-
I don't have any family here in AZ so I spend time with some the neighbors. The last two Thanksgivings I smoked a turkey and everyone raved about it. That's about it for me.
-
I have cooked the Thanksgiving Turkey outdoors almost every year we've been married. This year was our first year smoking it, and we decided to do that for Christmes as well.
-
Have red raspberries on toast for breakfast on Christmas morning.
-
tree up after thanksgiving, tree at my moms house, x-mas breakfast [big]

Making tamales, and breaking scales. In that order.
-
At halloween my brother and I set up a very simple haunted house and scare kids (older kids not little children) >:D
-
We travel to Ca for a big family Christmas.
-
Not decorating! Sometimes I'll make turkey for Thanksgiving and a prime rib occasionally for Christmas, but that's about it. Football is probably the only consistent tradition for me, unless they blow it this year :'(
-
We celebrate Christmas. The family goes to church Christmas Eve...then we try to get to sleep before Santa comes. Christmas Day is reserved for our family...no friends over...just hang around the house and eat and drink whatever.
-
Toiletries in the stockings. Parents did it for me. Now i do it for my kids.
-
T-bone Steaks.... T-Bone Steaks.... Turkey made up every which way imaginable.. and of course at least one trip up north for snow...
-
Visit with as many family members as possible. Make a special effort to see the ones that haven't seen recently. Something I have learned from the woman in my life. I have learned to embrace the tradition.
-
I put up an electric train under the tree and run it Christmas morning.
-
Presents don't go under the tree until all the kids are in bed Christmas Eve night. Family Christmas Eve dinner of Beef Tenderloin, Cream of Broccoli Soup, Mashed Potatoes and Grilled Asparagus.

My family always does a southwest theme potluck on christmas eve. Hopefully this next year when the little guy is holder (and sits still), i'll start either reading the christmas carol or play it on old 45's.
-
Thanksgiving cookouts. We like to camp over Thanksgiving (Gotta love Az winters), Nothing quite like smoked Turkey and Ham plus all the fixings outside, in the middle of nowhere.
-
Our extended family has gotten together every Christmas Eve since I was a kid. Now... Our Christmas Eve party has started to move to the Saturday before Christmas, but we always come together and celebrate. I still love that.
