I love cast iron.

I see you are all ready to cook as well, even have your Fire Extinguisher ready.  You can never be too careful..  :D  :o

OOoooohh AAAaahh.  Oh. It ain't fireworks. But I get just as excited! I have a stovetop DO and #8 skillet from Mom, and a Wagner #8 I got at Brass Armadillo. But what I need...no, NEED is a griddle like that and a STINKIN' GAS STOVE. My DW kept telling me I'd get used to the confounded electric POS, but I grew up w/electric. 13 years in this house. 20 years in Phoenix. (No gas stoves where I've lived...), and even if this stupid crappy avocado stove weren't 40 years old and a piece of JUNK I'd still hate it.
I know. "Don't hold back, now. Tell us how you really feel..."
Sorry. Didn't mean to rant. I'll go back and express Cast Iron envy and complement your beautiful seasoning job.
Wow. What beautiful CI. Got it seasoned to perfection! Bet you can cook fried over medium eggs on that beaut of a griddle!
Do you do crepes? I cook Yorkshire puddings in my 8s. You might know them as popovers, just in one pan instead of muffin tins.
OK, I'm about typed out. If you all contribute to the "buy dave supplies and meat" charity, I'll go smoke food and stay away from the computer!

Have not tried crepes but I love them so thanks for the idea.  On eggs...oh yea, I cant cook an egg over medium to save my life, unless I have my griddle!   O0

My wife is Swedish by decent and has a family recipe for Swedish pancakes (thin like crepes) that we have cooked at all holiday and family gatherings for years.  I always used non-stick pans because that made sence to me...but ha was I wrong.  My brother in law showed me how he does it on a 10 inch cast iron pan.  Wow how friggin easy it was, they cook better and more even and no sticking with just a few drops of butter.  I am sold on cast iron.

I guess my Minnesota relatives have regular lefsa parties. I'm thinking that's the swedish pancakes to which you refer. I vaguely remember eating some...Oh well, there's always Carolina's tortillas. There'd be a recipe worth having!
I just found out my BIG DO doesn't fit in my smoker. I never get to use the thing!! It's like 14" diameter and has 1 1/2" legs. Too much leg and too tall to fit on my crap stove, legs too long and too tall to fit in my crap stove's oven...although I keep thinking about just burying it in a hole filled w charcoal. Heck, that's what it's made for.
That's something else I have to get at Davis Salvage. Xpanded metal for my firebox, and for a backyard hole for the big DO. I need 3 jobs. I shoulda played baseball. That 9 mil a year for hitting .278 would come in handy. 'Course, I couldn't hit .278 if you painted it on a house!
