Title: New DeWALT FAT 40
Post by: Mike (AZBarbeque) on August 20, 2007, 01:34:14 pm
Hey all, here are some pictures of the new Diamond Plate FAT 40 Fully loaded smoker/grill that DeWALT ordered.

What are your thoughts and feedback on it?  I would love to share them with DeWALT.

DeWALT has once again come on as one of our Presenting Sponsor for both the November and April BBQ Cook-offs out at Rawhide and they are one of our great site sponsors here as well.

DeWALT will be running a great promotion using this grill and could potentially be ordering many more of them from me, so we all really value your thoughts.

I can't wait to see it in action, just driving home with it people were honking and giving me "Thumbs up".

Rumor is they might be raffling this off to one of the competitors in the November's Southwest International BBQ Cook-off's DeWALT Contrator Division, so if you are not signed up to compete in that portion of the competition, make sure to get registered.  This isn't a "Sure Thing" yet, but as I said, I have heard "Rumors" that this is their plan....

Nice cooker!! Reminds me, can we pay for the contractors division entry fee when we check in at the venue? Also, what do we need to turn in for the the contractors division? Is it a seperate box from the rest? Sorry, don't mean to steal this thread.

Jay,  It has not been determined by DeWALT if people can pay that day.

DeWALT typically will have a package of goodies and info available for all the teams registered in the contest and if people come the day of the event and register, then it's hard for them to know how much to order, etc.

At last year's event, they did a number of raffles during the event for just the competitors in the Contractor's Division.  I know they are planning to do this once again this year.

Right now, we are thinking they will just go with the scores from the KCBS portion of the contest, but we are also discussing having a seperate turn in for just this category.  Problem is we already have 8 turn ins and when would we do it, and who would judge it, KCBS, IBCA or a seperate DeWALT contingency.

What's everyones thoughts on this?  I would love to hear some feedback and suggestions for us to discuss.

I would think that the KCBS scores would be good. It's gonna be tough turning in 8 boxes as it is.

How did they do this last year?

We did it off of the IBCA Scores which was tough due to the IBCA only going out 10 spots.

So how did Blakes BBQ win Grand Champ in the IBCA contest but then take sixth in the Contractors Division?

Jay, I stand corrected.  We did have a seperate turn in last year for the Contractor's Division, it was after the Brisket turn in.  We did this because we would not have been able to know who the winner's were if they placed below 10th place in total points.  This year with KCBS scoring, this will not be an issue.

So whoever wins the KCBS contest will be the winner of the Contractors Division, correct? I mean if that is what is decided.

Well, they will win only if they enter the Contractor's Divison.  It's possible that someone would do well in the KCBS event categories but decided not to enter the Contractor's Division.

Exactly... If the top 15 teams in the final KCBS results did not enter the Contractor's Division, but the 16th place team did, then the 16th place team would be the winner of the DeWALT Contractor division.

Hope that explains it, please let me know.

That is what I call the Muscle Car Of Smokers. Nice rig. I like the idea of using the KCBS scores for the Contractors Division.

Great suggestion David, we could even take it a step further and install some tool boxes on it and maybe even one of their new Power Washers...

Sweet cookers but I think the way the money situation is going here now, I will sitck the the 2 WSMS I got and my 55 gallon drum smoker w/side fire box. Might even add 2 more WSM`s and get a larger pop up canopy instead. Not that I wouldnt mind having a BIG cooker , I got to live within my means. Just had to fork over 1,000.00 to pay off my last kidney stone surgery , that took a bite out of the finances. Keep them pics coming , those look sweet.
