Hi guys.
I am planning on buying a decent smoker in the next couple of month. Being a newbie I would like some input from you more senior smokers out there. I dont have fortune to spend but looking at the Fat 40 or The Marshall/Rodeo from the The-Good-One. Or would you recommend something else?

What are your thoughts??

Thanks for any advice I can get

I haven't yet used the one from The-Good-One, but it looks pretty cool.

I have owned all the models of Diamondplates over the past few years and love them.  Next one I get will have room to add on one of the Good One's units as well.

If you have a chance to come out to the Cook-off next Saturday, March 7th, there will be several of each type out there to look at.

Hope to see you out there.  Let me know if you have any specific info you want on the Diamondplates.  ;)

Thanks for the quick response. Sounds great with a cook-off. Where is it?
I am in India working this week and will fly home sometime next week. Hopefully I will make it back before the 7th.

Would gladly accept all info I can get on a FAT40, seems to be within price range  :) My price range - not my wifes

Both are good cookers, but you have to detemine your use. Is it for Comps, for home use, a combo of both?

However, the best advice (Which I did not follow and do regret it) is find the smoker that perfectly fits your needs and then buy the next size bigger.   ;D

Hope to see and meet you in Tempe

Swede, you might look at the Stumps with the automatic charcoal feed chute. I am in the process of making a clone to that unit with my own modifications. I really like the way it is insulated helping to keep an even temp in spite of weather.

What do you want to know about the Stump's, I use their GF 222 CM for the last two years.

You can also go out to Stump's web site at http://www.stumpssmokers.com/ and then to the forum.

Stop on by at Tempe, I will be there.  More than happy to show you the smoker.

Johan, you can see the Stumps style smoker at

Then you can see more pics at

There is a new baby stumps that can be ordered but you will have to call for pricing.

I looked at the 40 first then I ordered my FAT 50. We are looking at getting another one as we have been growing. I would get a 50 before a 40. Stop by and check it out in Tempe.
