Title: DPP 60 With Front Grill and Guru
Post by: Florida Boy on May 18, 2008, 05:29:48 pm
I am going to pick this up on Friday. Travis was nice enough to send me some pics to hold me over. The two pipes at the bottom near the fire box are the Guru adapters Travis piped in for me. I love the slide out tray on the grill and the baby chrome tips to go with the mother :)

WOW, that looks great.  You are going to miss not having that upper rack though, it was great for storage, but you can add one later locally if you know a welder.

Let me know how that grill works.

Thanks! I will show pics of the inside with the snout dampers capped off to diffuse the heat. Yes I made a sacrifice on the front basket. However, I have two trucks that can haul things to BBQ I don't use cars :)

I'm with Mike on the upper rack.  They are removeable, so they are not in the way.  If you are competing, I find having a truck bed is not enough and the storage in the cooker is a necessity.

Other than that, I love what you have there!  The mini chrome tips are cool. >:D

Ok I was talking about the front basket u are talking about the upper basket...Yes that would have been nice. Travis said he doesn't really like the upper basket because it causes stress on the unit but will do them because customers ask. What I'm doing with it didn't want it that tall. Never been to a competition yet. Thanks guys will fire up the Guru on Friday.

I'm anxious to hear your feedback on those.  I see lots of competitors using them on other equipment, so I'm looking forward to hearing how it works on the Diamond Plates.  If you could, when you get it, take some close up pictures of them so I can really see what they look like on there.

Thanks...   ;)

Sure bud not sure how great it will be with logs but I did order the max 2 fans and the largest 25cfm. I will try with lump also if I can some some good ones. I was going to get Travis to Insulate firebox but read where where it doesn't really help on logs still feeding every 45min to an hour but good on charcoal. I'm a true log person and plenty of Oak in Florida:)

Mike I used the Guru on my first cook and it worked great. I set the temp at 240 and it maintained it for 5 hrs. I still needed to change the logs about every hour but it quickly brought the temp up and maintained it.
