baked alaska cake............

70 deg in the winter and after doing yard work all day i wanted some sugar and not just any sugar so i ended up making this.....

split a cake in half and fit bottom into spring form pan


pulled out the ice cream maker, if yer in the market this is a good one with out shelling out $500-$600.


cooled the custard and started it up.....


when nobody is looking sneak a taste with a cinnamon twist.....


damn...got busted but very easily bribed with a pay off........


ice cream layer........


top with other layer and into the freezer......


unmolded and ready for meringue........


crumb coat and back into the freezer..........


finished piping and torched..........


plated with vanilla and chocolate creme anglaise........

crash, it is pretty simple.......you first lay out a base sauce, in this case it is vanilla. then starting in the center, you lay out a thin line spiralling out to the edge with another color.



then with a toothpick you start from the center and pull to the edge. you will do this 8 times foming equal segments. then you will disect each segment by pulling the toothpick from the edge to the center.
it really is that simple...............
