Title: Inaugural Territorial Cup Series
Post by: G$ on May 10, 2010, 07:10:05 am
It appears the winner of the Inaugural Territorial Cup Series has been determined.

http://www.territorialcupseries.com/genrel/rules-points.html

Current Score:
UA:    9.5
ASU:  5.5

Quote
ASU and UA sports teams will compete against one another in 18 common varsity intercollegiate sports. For a school to be the winner of the State Farm Territorial Cup Series Trophy, they must accumulate 9.5 points.

- Each sport will be worth one (1) point.
- The point is awarded to the team that wins a season series.
If the teams play once in a given season (football) then that game counts as one point.
For baseball and softball, all regular season games count towards season series tally, including the non-conference games.
For swimming and diving, cross country, golf, and track and field only, one point is awarded to whichever team finishes higher in the Pac-10 Championship. (for these sports no other postseason competitions will count towards the series)
- If teams split the regular season match-ups, then each team receives a 1/2 point for that sport.

I quickly scanned it the other day when first posted and couldn't see where the UA point advantage came from. ASU is strong in all the major college sports like baseball, basketball, track and football. Is Wildcat thumb wrestling, archery and croquet that strong to skew the numbers? >:D

If syncronized swimming, curling, and ballroom dancing can be considered Olympic level sports, couldn't thumb wrestling be a collegiate sport? After all.....ASU excels in Cheese Rolling, Cow Tipping and Yo-Yo's! ;)

Not many cows in Tempe. Tucson however has its fair share - just check out the sorority houses.  ;D

Man.....I'm getting beat up here!  :D Anyway, truth be told I grew up in Phx (North High Grad/12th st/Thomas), left when I was 20 yo to go to UA. We went out to a dairy farm in Mesa once as a teenager, to try "cow-tipping", but I don't think people know how hard it actually is! Never succeeded though, story of my life......(now I need a beer :().

UA was always a one hit wonder....

The Inaugural Territorial Cup Series was presented last night at Halftime of the Wildcat's victory over 9th ranked Iowa.    As a reminder, this trophy represents all the sports for the Universities' athletic programs.
