Title: Grading out the new coaching hires
Post by: Mark on January 18, 2012, 12:16:03 pm
Not surprisingly, expectations are high for UA and low for ASU. The Wildcats get high marks for both RichRod and Jeff Casteel- the defensive coordinator. Graham has his work cut out for him to prove the naysayers wrong.

Tucson is almost universally excited about Coach Rodriguez and the staff he has put together.  Casteel took longer than we wanted, but that was a huge piece of the staff.  I actually think the Cats will be "decent" next year.

I do see a couple years of trouble after next year, and by year 4, per the Rodriguez Plan, we should be "winning big".

Graham has a lot of work to do to gain the trust (IMO) of an awful lot of folks (other than the ABOR who apparently have no issues with the guy ......)

I don't know about current make-up of ABOR, but historically it has been dominated by UA alum.  No wonder they love Graham.  (Just looked it up, still true!)

re the alum angle, I think there is some sort of "over compensating" that sometimes happens.  I will tell you, DeConcini is no friend of the UA athletics department, regardless of his alumnus status.
