Why Kingsford??

I use K in my big stick burner. I use it because it keeps the temps more even than a strictly wood fire. Evey time I added  a log the temp would spike until it went to coals, when I was on wood only.
I now use the K to keep the heat even and add wood on the side to smolder to get my smoke, trying NOT to let the wood actually burn but smolder next to the K. I get around 10-12 hours of heat out of a 15lb bag. I only use around 3 8''in diameter Pecan logs to get the smoke.
Since I added the stoker the times are going up and the temps are always right on.

Are there those that are using the "K", just using smaller smokers and cookers??  When I usally BBQ, it is for a large croud, a minumum of 40 to 50 people, most of the time a lot more than that.

I don't know.... Stump's and Backwood Smokers look kinda large to me (at least the prices are!!). They claim an hour per pound of charcoal for keeping temp.

And I don't use them fancy blowers and DigiQ-dads. Why make such a simple thing harder. I wake up every couple hours or so to check temp.....These guys wake up to make sure their gadgets are still workin!!

Jay, you're a Renaissance man!

I knew you'd like that one. ;)

I thought it was pretty bold talk coming from a man with a pink scooter.

Why Kingsford??   Because it is what Rhythm 'n QUE uses.  ;)

I do cook on smaller cookers and the Big K has always been consistent for me.
