Currently cooking with a newly built UDS,(thanks to Skouson, my brother) which is my current best smoker.  I've also got a Weber Performer, also from Sterling.  My brothers think I'm CRAZY.  (Strangely, they're right.)

Never tried it. One side of me says it is a fruitwood so it should be fine. The other side is wary of the bitterness of the fruit's skin, wondering if it translates to the smoke. If you have ever bitten into the rind of a pomegranate, you'll know what I mean. It is very tannic and dries out your mouth immediately.

I googled it. Came up with http://www.hort.purdue.edu/newcrop/morton/pomegranate.html, and near the very end, the article says that the wood is very hard, but the plant is more a bush...the branches are rather small, but useful for walking sticks...I'd bet they'd be fine for smoking. Burn a bunch in a fire pit, see if it smells nice!

For cooking, lower and slower. For spices, mo' hotter, mo' better. Habaneros rule!
