Hi all,
Thanks for all the plugs!!!!
Sorry I have no Cherry wood at this time!
At the Washington yard I have the following:
Pecan, Oak, Pistachio, Apple, Grape, Mesquite and Wild Hickory but unfortunately no Cherry...I am always on the lookout for Cherry but so far no luck!
I did get a lead on REAL Alder and will post as soon as I get some in!

Guys, just went by Berry Bros today and stocked up my smoker full of Pecan.  So I am ready for the 4 events I have this coming week as well as the Lake.

We will also be picking up a trailer of Pecan for the lake in case anyone needs some, I'm sure we will have some great prices on it out there.  We will also have some wood we will be using in the fire ring for Friday and Saturday night, so that will be nice as well.

Thanks Thomas and Berry Bros, you guys really take care of us and we greatly appreciate it.

I just thought of something.  The only Costco location that is selling the 40 lb. bags of El Diablo is the Business Center location at 3801 N. 38th Ave on the southeast corner of 33rd Ave and Indian School.  The Business Center also has a lot of other useful things that you won't find at the other Costco locations.  Check it out sometime.

Just telling it like it is, Thomas.  Good people deserve good recommendations.

And who is this rat fink who has cornered the market on grape wood?  I think we may need to send in a "leg breaker" to deal with this situation.  The good news is that the bag I bought on Thursday will last for a while.  Any idea when you might be getting more?

Oh, and for the sake of brevity, just call me VQ.

Thank you VisionQuest220, I am humbled!
I'm glad to hear the Grape worked for you, unfortunately one of our forumites has all but cleaned me out of the supply I had on hand!!!!
You also gave me a great tip to pass along to others here on the forum....American Charcoal sells the El Diablo to Costco Business center on 3801 N. 33rd Avenue and they sell it cheaper than American Charcoal......$9.99 per 40 lbs Sack!!!! I just called to confirm this, and yes, it's true and yes, they stock it as we speak!
Thank you all for the great feedback and your much valued patronage!

I'd like to take a moment to compliment Thomas on running a great business.  I've been there on three or four separate occasions, the most recent being just last Thursday.  He always makes time to talk about what he has on hand, what might be in short supply and has always been willing to share his experiences with the different types of wood.

During my last visit we talked about El Diablo lump charcoal and I mentioned that I was not having good experiences with it.  He made a few suggestions including adding some well aged grape wood, (which he had in ample supply, already bagged and tied), and letting it burn down as part of the coal base.  I tried his suggestion and the grape wood out today and he was spot on correct on what a big difference it makes.

If you've never been to Berry Bros. you're missing the boat on all things wood.  I wonder what I'll end up buying the next time I'm there...

This is a great thread.  I have been getting my wood from BBQs Galore, and they are rather expensive and the wood sometimes comes with a lot of bark on it.  I will be buying from here from now on.
