Crash all I can think is you got a bad bag...I felt the smell was much nicer an no real difference in taste, but i only used it once...lump just gets so hot in the UDS...I might have to give it another shot to check again.

I used it in my drum smoker last weekend it gave it a rich crust, smoke ring and tender -- man I wish I could have saved that one --- did not get any hotter than blue.

I should clarify...no hotter while cooking, but when I open the lid the temps rise quicker for me than with regular blue, a lot like lump.

Nice Jim! I mentioned it before... a lot of the "Big League" barbecue teams like yourself use it and have great success with it! Maybe I need to give it more of a chance. I won't deny that it lights fast and creates less ash. Is it me or does it seem like the "Blue Bag's" ash steals a lot of heat when you're doing a BIG smoke?

I can't say for sure, but wouldn't a small amount of ash help insulate the bottom of the cooker. Anyone on here that knows for sure?

We cooked Pulte on Kingsford Competition -- I did find I had a lot left over, must be the sea level there.

I think you're right on the sea level Jim. I even had too much Blue Bag, I'm used to cooking at 6900 ft. Congrats on RGC!
