Just got a new Trager Texan smoker and looking for suggestions. I still have my side draft stick smoker and will use it also. Anybody know where to buy pellets locally? Trager says you can only use their pellets, but I think most good quality pellets will work.

BBQ Island has a complete selection of pellets. If you can only burn Treager pellets in yours, return it and get one that's made in America. They use everyones pellets. Good Luck with your pellet pooper.

What temperature did you use? what flavor of pellets works best? How long did it take to reach 175 internal temp? I have a Traeger . I absolutely love my Traeger!! This recipe looks DELICIOUS. I gotta try it.

Traeger Pellets are ok but there are much better products out there
Tragers use of wood oils for flavor instead of actual flavor wood is not appealing
I use Oak because of the high BTU value
Just don't like ash
My FEC 1000 Pellet Grill can float ash up onto the food when the fire pot has lots of ash in it
Green Mt and the Tempe BBQ store would both be fine sources

I've use just about every brand of wood pellets in my Traeger and haven't ever had a problem. Right now I'm using mostly Fast Eddies from BBQ Island.

I don't eat vegetables. The meat I eat, eats vegetables.
