One must be careful with sugar and beef.  That recipe looks good.  I tried a sugar crusted steak once about a year ago.  It was a definite no-go!

I've wanted to do, I believe it's called, a Caveman steak. You throw the meat directly onto hardwood coals. Anyone ever try this?

I heard of rubbing mud on your steak forming a thick crust and throwin that on the coals.  Once the steak is done, knock the mud off (at this time, it would be a hard crust) and you're good to go!  Got all that info from a retired marine who said that they did that during training.  I haven't tried that one tho.

MARK, quite a few years ago my uncle JOHN came up and we threw a elk sirloin on the coals after coating it with salt, then he cut it thin and put it on an italian roll with melted butter!! To this day we still make them a few times a year and they are great-try it!!
