Title: *UPDATE* - NEW Experimental UDS Lid.............
Post by: FatCharlie on July 06, 2010, 09:14:20 pm
Been working on a new UDS lid. Did some modifications to make it fit.

Just need to add the Rutland rope for the lid to drum seal, fill the welded areas with Rutland silicone, add a chrome exhaust tube and paint!

Pick up another 12" or so of height.

Finally got the lid done, trying it out on Sunday;

As a fellow drum head.....you got any pics looking down into the UDS? Looks like you got a water pan/diffuser?

For the time being, I'm using a foil pan for my water/apple juice and a flat foil pan for a difuser.

I'm in the process of fabricating a difuser just for UDS.

What i've had good luck with, is using a cheap grill grate, no smaller that the firebox. Wrapping it w/ foil, and poking a bunch holes thru the size of a temp therm probe. cleans up easy, no charred food, evenly distubes heat,and lets the juices thru for that lovely "psssssttt" sound when the juice hit the coals. And no fireups. good luck, nice rig!
