Picked these guys up today, retired pear concentrate barrels. Here in the next week we'll be building atleast two Drum smokers. Like I said in my dad's UDS thread, once I saw his I had to have one. Found these for $20/ea on craigslist locally, the guy gets more drums in all the time so if you guys are up in vegas, PM me and I'll give you the phone number.

Damn. I forgot about this thread.

Went to my dad's house last week and finally burned out my drums. This week I'll bring them home to my place and install the racks and maybe build the fire boxes.

got the grates and handles mounted last night.  gonna do another burn on them today, the upper half on one of them and both lids needs a little more burn time.  hopefully this weekend i'll get thermometers and fire baskets made. pics later.

Burning them out in my driveway. Hmm, this is the first burn out of this type to be done in my driveway haha!

this just might be the slowest UDS build thread in history. lol!

i got the hardware for the inlets


and some cheapo thermometers from Lowe's


and finally got my brother to make me some fire baskets.


and now, they're cooking


mmmmm...  cooking pork, brisket, ribs and chicken today for a bunch of friends.

damn these things cook well, that drum fluctuated a whole 20* throughout the day.  my little propane smoker i have in my backyard fluctuates like 80* at times!

I can't wait to cook in these things again. I took leftovers in to the guys at work today, they were all pretty happy to see it considering most of them had planned on eating jack in the box for lunch.
