Hello all,

My wife is heading to Tucson this month for work. Was wondering if anybody has any recommendations for food there? Something laid back and something fancy would be nice.

Thanks,

Robert King

I'm sure our Tucson BBQ Family will log on here shortly and post up some great info.

I can recommend Brushfire BBQ, we stopped in and saw them on our Tucson BBQ Crawl and they were great.

Let us know where she does go and what she thinks.  Always looking for our member's reviews.  ;)

For great Midwestern cooking - Wag's Restaurant on Grant.  Awesome Breaded Pork Tenderloin Sandwiches, Turbos, Real Malts, Rubard Pie and anything else on the menu!  Breakfast is great too!

Closed Mondays.

What part of Tucson?  Do you want for all 3 meals or just lunch and dinner?  I've lived in Tucson most of my life and my wife was in the hotel business down there.  Depending on what she wants I can recommend a lot of stuff.

That would be correct Johny. Been there too many times. Now if their food was as nice as the waitresses I would never leave.  :P

You can't drink all day if you don't start early.

I used to go to a place in Seattle called Ivar's Acres Of Clams. Their themeline was "Slam Some Clam." My biz buddy bought his wife a t-shirt with the slogan on it and wondered why she wouldn't wear it. ::)

I think they are staying at the Marriott Starr Pass Resort.

Now if "I" was going Hooters would have to be a stop. I think if I were to mention it I might get a slap upside the head though.

Karuna's thai at grant and campbell, tork's cafe at grant and...tucson blvd if I remember right, and shish kabob house on broadway across from park mall. Karuna's is the best thai in tucson and probably az. Tork's cafe i has awesome shwermas for cheap. $4 a sammy bout 10 years ago and the kanafa rocks. Jeff at shish kabob house will take great care of ya. really warm friendly fella, great homemade middle eastern cooking (he's from Jordan and had to get out of dodge due to not going along with the islam thing). If you finish a meal and are still hungry...he'll give ya more food. I remember once when his wife brought his kids in after picking them up from school. The kids we're bickering. Jeff's response was "quit your complaining, your in America now, you have nothing to complain about"
The gyro's are the best I have ever had and I am a gyro junkie. Also the hummus and motobal a.k.a babaganoush are the best.

If the room doesn't come with breakfast I say go to Braodway and Wilmot to a hole in the wall joint called Brawleys.  Cheap food that's good.  For BBQ try Mr K's, I forget exactly where it's at.  My wife recommends Daisy Mays at Anklam & Greasewood.  It's a whole in the wall steakhouse.  Inoteca is good located downtown Tucson as is El Charro.  If I think of more I'll let you know.
