While I've never had the pleasure of any Dickey's in my mouth, I've heard only bad things about this place and the Yelp reviews echo that sentiment:

No offense to Dickey's as they seem to have success with their franchise's, but my familie's roots are Czech immigrants who were processed through Galveston Island and ended up in the Yoakum / Shiner area. So, we've been in Texas for quite awhile and honestly, I can't ever remember anyone saying..."Look Dickey's, lets pull in and get some BBQ." Nor do I remember any stories being passed down about "that time we were at Dickey's".

That being said, I grew up in Houston and Dickey's is a Dallas outfit, so only while travelling did I even see one and there are just way too many "joints" on the highway and byways to ever consider something that looked like what it is, a chain.

Even when I lived in Dallas, the only time I can remember it being suggested was by my mother in laws husband of the last 15 years and he is from Ontario, Canada. He loves the place...
