Post by: Smokin Ken on January 14, 2014, 03:19:11 pm
Anyone able to suggest a good bbq restaurant up by Scottsdale convention center? Meeting up with a buddy from the navy who I haven't seen for 13 years and he's down here from Washington. So need to show him what Az is all about!!

Are you talking about in Old Town Scottsdale? There's not much there...Texas BBQ went out and didn't Big Earl's BBQ go out also?

Take a short drive to Anthem and go to Q-2-U, or Pork on a Fork in Deer Valley.

Bootleggers just opened up another location there in Old Town.

7217 E. 1st Street, Scottsdale, Arizona 85251

There is also a great place there called the Mission, they have great Gourmet BBQ as well.  3815 N. Brown Ave. , Scottsdale, Arizona 85251

Give one or both of those a try.  I think you will like them.

Mike's choices are good choices. Other than that, there's lots of touristy cowboy bars and sushi parlors. Nearby, Don & Charlie's is known for their ribs and sports memorabilia. Then there is Tom's BBQ at Hayden and Thomas Road...average at best.

Thanks for all the recommendations!  We ended up going to Bobby Q's. I thought everything was really good, but also small portions for the price. Nice atmosphere too. Thanks again.
