Not a bad looking establishment.  I like that they had a special menu for the AZBBQ squad.

What was up w/ the plaque?

Crash The plaque's where given to the restaurants for appreciation of having us there. Just our way of saying thanks. Now for my review

Being the one that kinda hosted the crawl I wanted to go to places that I have at eat and ones that I haven't. Rod's KC BBQ is one of the ones that I haven't been to before.  When I located the place which is right next door to one of the best pizza shops in Tucson, but that is another story. I found out that the pizza shop had purchased the BBQ restaurant, at this point I got a little concerned but the Manager who's name was Zack assured me that the BBQ hadn't changed a bit. This being said I had high hopes for this BBQ Joint as I have read many good reviews. We arrived a little early Where we were met by smiling faces glad to see us there. They had a special made up for Azbarbeque that was an outstanding deal.  My wife and I had Pork ribs, Chopped beef and pork with beans and bread. I got 1 piece of rib meat as my wife consumed them. I enjoyed the beef with a little of there home made spicy BBQ sauce. I liked the pork with the regular BBQ sauce as we where eating the staff brought us out some of there other homemade sides for us to sample. I tried the coleslaw which I thought was very good. I didn't try the potato salad but others at our table did I'm sure they can tell you about it. We asked if we could see the Pit where the magic was made. Zack said sure, as you can see by the photo they are prepared for big things. He also told us that Rod was a pit maker back in KC. Zack was telling us that they have a job coming up where there will be 50 thousand people. Ill tell ya this Rod has put together a real nice place to bring the family and enjoy some of Tucson True BBQ. So if you get a chance stop by, tell Zack and his staff AzBarbeque sent ya.

What do you mean I consumed the ribs, you told me to. I would have put up a fight though. I like pork most and the ribs were delicious. I could've ate more, but I knew we had two more places to go. The wait staff were friendly and very attentive. I wil go back for more and this time get a full plate.

OK, here are my reviews.  Sorry it took me so long to get them posted, it's been crazy the past few days.

Rod's KC BBQ was our first stop.  I got there about an hour early just so I knew I wouldn't be late.  They were easy to find and the place looked very appealing and fun. It sure didn't hurt that it was partnered up with the best Pizza Restaurant in Tucson as well.

Zach and his staff were great over there and really took care of us.  Only a few of the BBQ Restaurants we go to on our Crawls create special combo menus for us and this was one of them.

I had to try to Beef Ribs with both Pulled Pork and Pulled Beef.  It also came with Beans and as Mark said, they brought us out some additional sides of Potato Salad and Slaw.

The Beef Rib was good, didn't fall off the bone, but it was close, exactly where it should have been.  The Pulled Pork and Pulled Beef were good, very moist and you could certainly taste the smokey flavor.  They put the sauce right on it, thus the KC Style BBQ.  I more like when I can add my own sauce, but it was still very enjoyable.   The Potato salad was homemade and very good.  I didn't try the slaw, but was told it was good as well.

I really liked that they gave white bread with the meal.  Now that's real BBQ.  I have not been to a place that gave out real bread in quite some time, so I was really liking this experience.

I would certainly recommend this BBQ Restaurant to everyone.  The food, staff and ambience are great.

Great First Stop Mark..

The staff at Rods BBQ were great they keep the drinks coming, and were there when ever we needed some thing.
They gave us a tour of the pit. Plus giving us the special menu to boot was great. (we were able to sample all their BBQ that way.) The BBQ was very good, plus nice of them to throw in the extra sides which were very good as well. I like the Hot BBQ sauce they brought out on the side. Thanks to Rods for having us out and thanks to Mark for putting the crawl together. We had a great time just getting together with BBQ friends.
