BBQ is really starting to take off here in Idaho.  The major BBQ restaurant chains are realizing how many BBQ fans are in Idaho.  Below are two recent openings for Famous Dave's and Dickey's.

Famous Dave's Barbeque
3510 N. Eagle Road
Meridian, Idaho 83646

Dickey's Barbecue
2845 E. Overland Road
Meridian, ID 83642

Unfortunately there is no site like AZBarbeque.com in Idaho.  Instead there is a Pacific Northwest Barbecue Association (www.pnwba.com).  I am trying to convince Mike to launch an IDBarbeque.com and get things started up here.

I will keep you up-to-date on the BBQ happenings here in Idaho!

Cheers!

David

P.S. - The Potatoes here really are as good as they claim to be!

The PNWBA is a great organization, but it would be great to have an Idaho BBQ Club up there as well.

We would need a local rep.. Hint Hint...

Keep us updated on what's happening up there...  ;)

I had the ultimate BBQ day today.  It started with me driving by the new Famous Dave's BBQ.  Then I headed on to the Eagle Rib and Spud Cook-Off.  And to wrap up the day my family and I went to Dickey's BBQ.

I was thinking of you all throughout the day.  I called Mike a few times to let him know I was thinking about him.  Also, Faith and Joy said that nothing we ate today tasted as good as Uncle Mike makes it!  There is not a better set of judges than those two girls.

I need to order some AZBarbeque gear off the on-line store on this site so I can better represent up here in Idaho.  As I said in another post, there is another event here in May, it would be great to see an AZBarbeque team up here.  I would help in any way I could.

Enjoy some pictures!

God Bless,

David

Hello David,

Have you tried the Eagle Rib Shack yet?  It was on main street in Eagle, Idaho and I believe he was opening a new one in Meridian.

http://eagleribshack.com/about.htm

We moved there from Texas in 2004 and there was a limited supply of Q in Idaho and there were times it was waaaaay too cold for a tranplanted Texan to try and keep his pit at an even temperature. They opened while I was there and I found his BBQ to be pretty darn good.  Beans were good and he has what he called "smashed potatoes", they were quite tasty as well.

There was a gentleman from Texas that opened a BBQ place in Eagle as well but he decided not to pay the high rent on Main Street and I wonder how his business is doing.

Anyway, there are about 3 blocks from each other so if you have not tried them you should check them out.

P.S. - if your from here, they have this thing called winter up there..its coming.

Thanks for the reply.  I have been to the Rib Shack.  It was really good.  They give you sample ribs as you are waiting for your order.  In fact they were cooking for the public at the Eagle Rib Cook Off.

I have not tried Roadhouse BBQ yet, but I will be sure to look it up now.

They do have a Texas Roadhouse out here, which I am also a fan of.

Do you still live in Idaho?

Thanks again for the reply!
