Hey all, I just received this from Famous Daves.  What a great promotion and it shows why they are such a great supporter of BBQ here in AZ.

LOCAL MILITARY GET FREE MEAL ON ARMED FORCES DAY AT ALL VALLEY FAMOUS DAVES

MAY 1, 2009 (Phoenix, Arizona) - To commemorate this Armed Forces Day; Famous Dave's Bar-B-Que is proud to salute and honor all military personnel by offering them a FREE meal from 11 AM to 11 PM on Saturday, May 16, 2009.

All Active Duty, National Guard and Reserve military personnel are invited to visit any of the three (3) Famous Dave's locations in the Valley for a complementary lunch or dinner entree when they show their Military ID.

"Supporting our local Armed Services members means a great deal to me and my wife," said John Erlandson, the Phoenix area Famous Dave's Franchisee and Army Reserve Veteran and Ranger School graduate.  "We're humbled by the tremendous sacrifice our Servicemen and Servicewomen make for all of us and this is just a small way, through our business and "award-winning" BBQ, to show our appreciation for everything they do to keep us and our families safe.  We want to recognize and honor them for their selflessness, not just on Armed Forces Day but throughout the year."

In April, Famous Dave's provided lunch to more than 1,000 Airmen and Airwomen and their families for a "NASCAR-PIR-Famous Dave's Salute to Military Families" at Luke Air Force Base as well as to 500 Army troops at Papago Military Reservation a week prior.  "Our allegiance to the military is more than a one time event; it is an enduring value of our company."

Erlandson added that the Armed Forces Day event at Famous Dave's will serve as a kick-off to a year-long promotion in which every Monday at all Famous Dave's Valley locations, anyone with a Military ID or Military Family ID will receive a 20% discount on their meal - "Military Monday's at Famous Dave's."

Famous Dave's Bar-B-Que features hickory-smoked St. Louis-style ribs, Texas Beef Brisket and Georgia Chopped Pork all slathered in their award-winning Rich and Sassy BBQ sauce.  Their menu also offers Barbeque and Country Roasted Chicken, Sweetwater Catfish, Sweet & Sassy Grilled Salmon, BBQ sandwiches, Burgers, Salads, and such down-home classics as made-from-scratch Coleslaw, Potato salad, Wilbur Beans and Honey-Buttered Corn Bread Muffins.  And don't forget the delectable homemade desserts including award-winning Bread Pudding and a sinful Hot Fudge Kahlua Brownie.

Dining in a Famous Dave's smokehouse transforms guests into a backyard barbeque rich in fun and flavor.  It gives folks a chance to dig into the best barbeque there is, with a warm and comfortable atmosphere that features Americana and Picnic memorabilia, pictures of Famous Dave Anderson's BBQ journey, well-loved old signage and memory-filled pictures transporting guests to a fresh, new, casual, family-oriented dining experience.  In addition to their mouth-watering barbeque and full-service bar, the restaurant provides an extensive array of Catering services as well as a comprehensive Take-Out menu.

Having won awards for everything from best sauce to best ribs to best cookbook, Famous Dave's has received wide acclaim and praise from customers and critics alike.  Locally, Famous Dave's has been recognized multiple times in the media as the Best BBQ restaurant in Phoenix and John Erlandson was recently named 'Franchisee of the Year' by Famous Dave's of America.

There are three Famous Dave's restaurants in the Valley - in Chandler on the Southside of the Chandler Fashion Center at 3250 West Frye Road; in Peoria across from the Peoria Sports Complex at 16148 North 83rd Avenue and in Mesa next to Bass Pro at 1011 Dobson Road. Erlandson has plans to open four additional Famous Dave's restaurants around the Valley.

That is a great thing, you can bet out soldiers appreciate it.

Goes to show that those who have served in the military are always looking for ways to give back to those who are currently serving and to those who made sacrifices in the past to protect our nation and way of life.

Nice job, John.
