So I roll into Phx for business and give Robert (Glazed n Confused) a call. We meet for lunch at Little Miss, wasn't a hard sell to him, now I know why. HOLY COW. Get there right at 11am, damn if there wasn't already a line at the door. Scott's dad was out front, giving smoker tours and talking to the guests. That dude is straight up cool. Get inside and see Scott cutting the meat and Travis (Big Rack BBQ, one of the nicest guys on the comp trail) behind the counter, doing sides and such. Get the 2 meat plate, brisket and sausage. Robert went brisket and pastrami (which looked killer),Travis talks me into the jalapeno cheddar grits and cole slaw. Cole saw, fantastic. Fresh crunchy veggies and perfectly slightly creamy. Grits? Damn indescribable. Heaven forbit I need to ever be on a feeding IV, hook that stuff straight up. I'd freebase those grits if I thought it was possible. The sausage... fresh and flavorful. Brisket? I'm at a loss for words. All I know is I'm never cooking brisket again. I could just eat the bark all day, but it was so tender, juicy and flavorful. I've cooked tons of brisket and I have NO IDEA how he gets his bark that good. Maybe he will let us in on his bark secret.
He was giving burnt ends to customers in line, and maybe he doesn't see it, but everyone had that "this is incredible" look after the first bite. Pure smiles.
I think I'll order up a packer on the way to Show Low next weekend. Hopefully it'll hold.

I was ahead of you guys in line when they opened this AM. Got a couple of those killer beef ribs and a juicy jalapeno sausage to go. Simply terrific stuff! :P As I'm heading out, who do I see but Mark Crigler and Mr. BBQ Island himself waiting in line. Way to go, Scott and way to represent, AZ Barbeque members! 8)

I went back today with some customers and they loved the food. I got the huge Beef ribs and they were awesome. Scott and his team are such good people and cook great BBQ. Little Miss has a bright future here in the valley. It is like a BBQ reunion every time I go there with all our BBQ friends in line for lunch.

That's an every day thing there. I go past there 2-3 times a day, and I'm always looking over my shoulder as I go by...
and I/'m always wishing I had $10 and 15 minutes.
-
Thanks for coming in David. Things have been silly the past 5 days. We have been blowing away all our old sales. The amount of meat is being increased again starting tomorrow in a big way. I may be buying a welder much earlier than I had planned for another pit.
-
We will see you tommorrow for lunch guess I need to get there at 10am to ensure my place in line :D :D :D
-
Next time I am in town I have to try and get down there..

yeah scott you need a smoker with more height so you can stuff it full of those brisket ill see you Tuesday i know a thing or two about welding you would do well with something like a Lincoln 180 which you can get at home depot for $670. I can get 10% off for military if you want but honestly you could likely find it cheaper online.
well talk Tuesday and I'll bring my daughter again.

Crappo, Scott R...I missed you by a day...I deliver auto parts, and I have 5 or 6 stops within half a mile of there...And I blab about the astonishing brisket to almost all my accounts...I was able to prove it to 2 of them---left samples at 32nd St. and Thomas and 24th and Indian School. Either I need cases of brisket for practice, or I should give up the chase entirely. Based on $, it'll be the latter!
And try the beans! Crikey!!

Finally, we were able to get over to Little Miss BBQ! All I can say is Scott that was fantastic. Cheri and I are very happy for you, and it was great seeing you and Travis.
-
Can't wait to get back in town and try this place. Dethroning the king IMO (Texas House BBQ) will be tough however.
The east valley folk do tend to over hype their restaurants ;) (A little friendly fire don't get your panties in a twist)

Going from 16th Street to 43rd Street constitutes going from the west valley to the east valley? The two joints are less than 5 miles apart. You don't even have to traverse the mighty Salt River to get from one to the other. ;)

Just got back from an awesome lunch. Scott was behind the counter so I didn't get to chat with him, just to say bye. I had a great chat with Quintin outside though. Had the brisket and sausage with the grits on the side. I can see why everyone has been raving about the brisket on here. The rub was freakin' awesome. The sausage and grits were great. My wife and sister in law said my pork is better but I'm not sure I agree. It was great with the mustard sauce they got. Looking forward to going out there again. Keep it up guys!
