Interesting article and videos from the Chicago Tribune. Two reporters hit the road and head south to Alabama, eating BBQ at some famous and not-so-famous joints along the way. Please note that the first part of the blog is actually the latest, so you may want to scroll from the bottom up to start at the beginning.

I can't help but laugh at the comment of driving to Carbondale, which is just outside of Murphysboro.

"This is pretty much the opposite corner of Illinois from where we started at 5:45 p.m. Lord, was it a boring drive. "

This is exactly what I thought when I drove from St. Louis to Murphysboro, to attend the Business of BBQ class with Mike.  135 miles of NOTHING.  I drove back to the airport in a consent low hanging fog, guess what.  It looked the same.  :D
