I was just wondering if anybody has eaten at Bryan's Black Mountain BBQ in downtown Cave Creek?
It's written up on the New Times dining section

Haven't heard of it, is it new?  I usually visit one of the "motorcycle friendly" establishments when up there, like the Hideaway, Harold's, etc.  Have you seen it, heard of it, or tried it?  How was the write-up?

I haven't been there yet but I have driven by it a few times.  My mom lives up there and her neighbors said it's really good.  It's got a good write up in the AZ Republic as well.  It's not like the other bars up there as it's in a small cluster of stores but it looks nice.

Haven't been there YET. The write-up sounds positive. The owner/chef had been a chef at the Scottsdale Fairmont for more than a dozen years but wanted to open a place closer to his roots. I think the restaurant opened in May of '09...

Larry, where in the basin are you? You might be interested in Grady's BBQ, but it isn't really a place to go in and sit. I think--hoping he's still open--thee were 4 or 6 tables in front of the counters, nothing else to see. But Grady was an instructor at SCA, Is that the same as Cordon Bleu school? I think so. Anyway, real good pulled pork, and his sauce is fantastic!

For cooking, lower and slower. For spices, mo' hotter, mo' better. Habaneros rule!

I live in the central Phoenix area but tend to spend my weekends in Scottsdale at my girlfriend's place.
I searched the forum and see that Grady's is definitely near me at 19th Ave and Peoria -AND- I intend to check out recently reviewed Papa Joes which used to be be Baba Kanoush on Bethany and 19th Ave down the street from Christown/Costco area.

Thanks for the tip.  8)

Today the New Time's put a recipe for Bryan's "Chicken from Hell" - this dish is not always on the menu but it sounds delicious.   O0

Just wanted to let you know that I went there, met Bryan and tried the Pulled Pork Sandwich.  Good, smoky flavor (uses an Ol Hickory with Pecan for smoke) and a very open dinning area.

The sandwich was served on a large bun that spent a little time on the flat top to toast up.  The pork was lightly sauced and you had the option to add some more at the table if you like.  He has a thinner sauce in mild or spicy.  I liked the spicy but it really only had a little kick of pepper.

I picked the Olive Coleslaw as my side.  It was savory, not sweet with chunks of green and kalamta olives throughout in a mayo sauce. I liked it, but I would think that you have to like olives to enjoy it.

Bryan came to each table to introduce himself and see how things are, which I thought was a nice touc.  I told him about the site and he was going to check it out.

All I had was my cell for the picture, but here it it

I would say it check it out if you are in the vacinity.

Here is the write up from the Republic on it.  4 out of 5 stars they give it.  Great article though..
