Over 20 years ago, I proposed opening this style of restaurant to BIG 4 Restaurants- a chain I worked with years ago. I wanted to call it "The Grill From Ipanema." Unfortunately, it never came to be, but it allowed me to eat at churrascarias in Rio de Janeiro to see how it was done. I even brought back the long skewers and forks to hold the meats. Try carrying that onboard today's airlines!

If you haven't tried one, it really is a hedonist way to eat, although not inexpensive. Dinner at Fogo de Chao runs about 50 bucks before drinks, but we BBQ carnivores know how to get our money's worth!
