Here is a swedish version of an hamburger, not a favorite of mine but still interesting:
Biff a la Lindstrom, first created by chef Henrik Lindstrom in 1862, has become a perennial Swedish favorite. Form small patties about the size of half-dollars to serve as an appetizer on a buffet table, or make hamburger-sized patties and top, like the Swedes do, with a fried egg. Pickled beets and capers make these burgers truly unique.
Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 20 minutes
Ingredients:
1/2 medium onion, finely chopped (about 3/4 cup)
1 lb (450 g) ground beef
3 egg yolks
1/3 cup pickled beets, chopped into a small dice
2 Tbsp. pickled beet juice
1 Tbsp. roughly chopped capers
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. white pepper
3 Tbsp. butter or olive oil
Preparation:
Mix all ingredients together and form into patties. Heat butter or olive oil in heavy frying pan over medium-high burner. Fry patties until medium rare, about 10 minutes per side. You can also grill or smoke the patties
Another swedish hamburger specialty that is REALLY GOOD:
Bbq or grill large burgers. You top the burger with cheese, fried onions, fried mushrooms and a lot of bearnaise-sauce (Knorr-brand would work)(make it thick).
It is pretty tasty.
