Title: mexican pulled pork
Post by: 145 grill on April 03, 2016, 07:24:14 pm
I am looking for a rub or recipe for a Mexican flavored pulled pork. I was debating on using a rub and smoking or adding a red or green sauce after pulling.  Any ideas will be greatly appreciated, I have an event I am putting on in July and will be smoking about 8 roasts. So easy is good.  Thanks in advance.

For simplicity, moistness and flavor,  I'd recommend pouring one big can of green chile enchilada sauce per pulled butt. It'll drink it up. I've also used "menudo mix" as a rub. It contains crushed chile, Mexican oregano, onion, corriander and cumin. I buy it and the sauce at the 99 Cents Only Stores.

I think in season 6 Diners Drive-ins and Dives aired a segment on a restaurant in Ahwatukee called Los Taquitos.  In that segment, as I remember, they showed them preparing pork roasts with a rub.  I can't find the episode right now, if you can find it, it is worth watching.
