Apples and Snickers

this one is so easy its ridiculous:

Cut the top off of the apple and core it out like a jack-o-lantern

Jam a hunk of Snickers candy bar in the apple

Wrap the apple half way up in foil

Smoke the apple until the candy bar is melted and all gooey

Unwrap and eat

Picked this up at a competition in the northwest--made them later for my nephew, who ate three and passed out from the sugar high.

Why didn't you post this sooner?  I've got my smoker going, but no apples or Snickers!  Sounds great.

sorry brother--!!  Tuck it away for the next go 'round.  It's also a great late nighter if you've got a whole hog to keep an eye on...you could do a Jack Daniels glaze if you really wanted to go nuclear.

I would have never thought to do something like that! Great idea for a dessert to go with a BBQ meal!

We do this when I take the Cubs and Scouts camping but we use brown sugar and raisins before wrapping in foil and into the coals. I like the Snickers idea for when we're not out with 15 -20 kids.

This sounds incredible! How long do you normally have to smoke the apples?

Not long. We wrap in foil and as soon as it starts feeling soft to the touch, they're done. Probably 15 mins only.
You know what else sounds funny? Try throwing a whole bananna in there, peel and all. I don't know what happens chemistrywise but they go so sweet when they cook up in their peels. No choclate, raisins, snickers, just a whole dang bananna, peel it and eat it with a spoon 'cause it goes real mushy.
