I heard about this on the news today.  Disturbing, but not overly shocking.

Early diagnosis and proper intervention is the key to helping these children.

I love animals.  They're delicious!

The Public School System offers Early Childhood Screenings for children as young as two-years-six-months of age.  The children are assessed in the areas of communication, cognition (learning), self-help skills, social skills and motor skills.  If a child has a significant delay in any one, or combination of these areas, they may qualify to attend preschool and receive services such as speech therapy, occupational therapy, etc.  Contact your school district and ask about a Child Find Screening or Developmental Preschool Screening.

For children under three, the Department of Developmental Disabilities (Arizona Early Intervention and Prevention) offers similar services, sometimes in the home.

All of these services are free of charge.
