Actually, Mark, "facts" do lie.

A reasonable person might question why this reporter used only 11 basketball games (maybe 5 years), 13 years of football games, maybe 12 years of women's basketball games, and maybe 6 years of baseball games.  And no track, softball, swimming, or other sports.  Of course, I don't expect any ASS-U fans to be reasonable.  But just ponder the following:

I'm not going to take the time to look up everything, but this is a case of figures lie and liars figure.  So  let's just go to football, where "everyone" knows how dominant the scum devils are:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Territorial_Cup

Just to summarize in football:

UA has won 3 of the last 4
Over the last 20 years, the record is 10-10.  Boivin is skewing things by picking certain specific time periods.  Why does he (she?) pick different time periods for each sport?  If you want to make a comparison, use the same time period for each.  He/she is a hack.  Why not say UA has won 3 of the last 4?

In basketball, the "statistics" are even more laughable:

In the past 20 years, the wildcats have had only 2 seasons with less than 20 wins and have had only 2 seasons where WE didn't get to the NCAA's.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arizona_Wildcats_men%27s_basketball

I searched and searched and searched, but can't find overall ASU basketball numbers.  All I can find is that, under Sendek, ASU has had 3 out of 6 seasons with 20 or more wins.  Got into the NCAA once, losing in the second round.  Got into the NIT twice, losing as the # 1 seed, at home, in 2010.  And ASU's previos coach, Rob Evans, produced a whopping 119-120 record at ASS-U in his 8 years at ASU -- but he did actually get into the NCAA tournament ............................ONCE

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rob_Evans

So, beware quoting a hacck who skews time periods to try to show something that isn't there.

OOps, unfortunately, ASU baseball is ineligible for post season in 2012 because of NCAA penalties:

http://www.azcentral.com/sports/asu/articles/2011/11/04/20111104asu-baseball-ineligible-2012-postseason.html

OK, Dan, how are those numbers?  Looking forward to seeing you at Sam's Club.

Gotcha, Dan.

Took a lot of looking, but couldn't let those lying "facts" stand.

Not gonna lie... rather unbiased when it comes to AZ collegiate sports. Seems ASU is always compensating for something. Please make a comment about ASU beating Nebraska 19-0, their last major win!!! 15 years ago!

The first reply to that article, if true, is awesome and hilarious.  Don't know if it's true and I don't have the time to verify it.

"Paola Sweetie, the 'Cats have won 28 of the last 36 in Men's basketball and 3 out of last 4 in football (11 - 11) since 1990. Nice how numbers can be manipulated. Learn that in Homer School? Maybe Lisa Love taught you."  :D :D :D

Ha! I knew you guys would implode. >:D Honestly, I did find the number of years chosen to be odd (especially hoops)and assumed that the previous X years was likely a UA streak of wins.

By the way, have you visited your players in jail?  :'( Mebbe you can sneak a file into a rack of ribs. 8)

Only you would find the numbers "odd" but not suspicious or misleading. Well, I figured if anybody would have a recipe for crow it would be you, Mark.

BTW,  On my recent visit to that run-down S- hole you guys call a college basketball stadium,  I saw that ASU actually hangs banners for every year that ASU made the tournament. Not Sweet 16, Elite 8, Final Four or National Championship, just getting in was enough reason to hang a banner. Funny....

Stay classy ASU!

I gotta admit, that IS funny. :D

As for that run-down S- hole, it's a year younger than McHale's Navy Center. ;D

I didn't say that it was old I just said it was run down. Mckale continues to get millions of dollars into the facility every year. If you go to both of them you cannot even compare the two. Mckale is a first class run operation. It probably has something to do with success. And I like how Mckale is a year older and holds 15,000 and Wells Fargo (from such a big university) holds 10,000. Nice job thinking big ASU.

Mark, have you recently been inside that arena?

Nah. The basketball played there is terrible. ;)

Plus, you gotta factor in the energy savings at McHale. I hear they save millions each year because of the turbine hooked up to Bobbi Olson's grave. She's been rotating at a steady 10,000 rpm since Lute's two subsequent marriages. 8)

Cheap...even for you. And I thought my remark that the only great ASU athletic achievement in the last decade came from a one legged wrestler was low. Nice job Mark.  :D

Hey Mark, who won the pool?  I had guessed Dan would reply to your next ASU post in under 2 hours (and he did at 1:48), followed by Crash at 8 hours (6:31 elapsed time).  So predictable!
