Actually, Mark, "facts" do lie.
A reasonable person might question why this reporter used only 11 basketball games (maybe 5 years), 13 years of football games, maybe 12 years of women's basketball games, and maybe 6 years of baseball games. And no track, softball, swimming, or other sports. Of course, I don't expect any ASS-U fans to be reasonable. But just ponder the following:
I'm not going to take the time to look up everything, but this is a case of figures lie and liars figure. So let's just go to football, where "everyone" knows how dominant the scum devils are:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Territorial_CupJust to summarize in football:
UA has won 3 of the last 4
Over the last 20 years, the record is 10-10. Boivin is skewing things by picking certain specific time periods. Why does he (she?) pick different time periods for each sport? If you want to make a comparison, use the same time period for each. He/she is a hack. Why not say UA has won 3 of the last 4?
In basketball, the "statistics" are even more laughable:
In the past 20 years, the wildcats have had only 2 seasons with less than 20 wins and have had only 2 seasons where WE didn't get to the NCAA's.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arizona_Wildcats_men%27s_basketballI searched and searched and searched, but can't find overall ASU basketball numbers. All I can find is that, under Sendek, ASU has had 3 out of 6 seasons with 20 or more wins. Got into the NCAA once, losing in the second round. Got into the NIT twice, losing as the # 1 seed, at home, in 2010. And ASU's previos coach, Rob Evans, produced a whopping 119-120 record at ASS-U in his 8 years at ASU -- but he did actually get into the NCAA tournament ............................ONCE
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rob_EvansSo, beware quoting a hacck who skews time periods to try to show something that isn't there.
OOps, unfortunately, ASU baseball is ineligible for post season in 2012 because of NCAA penalties:
http://www.azcentral.com/sports/asu/articles/2011/11/04/20111104asu-baseball-ineligible-2012-postseason.htmlOK, Dan, how are those numbers? Looking forward to seeing you at Sam's Club.
