Hey all, this event is just over a week away.  We are all very excited for it.  We started the year off with a great BCS (Barbeque Championship Series) BBQ Competition at Rock Springs Cafe & we are ending our BCS year with one right back where we started.

Our first 4 meat event at Rock Springs Cafe we had 17 teams.  Our past one this past February, we had 26 Teams.  For this one, we already have 46 Teams Registered with a few more saying they might be jumping in as well.  We could potentially hit 50+ teams.  Very exciting for Rock Springs Cafe, AZBarbeque & the BCS.  On top of all that, the GC from our February event, Tom Duncan with Whiskey Ranch BBQ, received his Jack Draw from our event, so our very first event of the new BCS & we got a Jack Draw.  Pretty impressive.  We certainly wish Tom & all the other great teams competing back at the Jack this weekend Good Luck & Safe Travels.

The info for this event is attached.  We tried to cover as much as we could, but if you still have any questions, please e-mail or call me or post up online at http://www.azbarbeque.com/forums/3rd-rock-springs-boo-que/

I know some teams are arriving on Thursday, especially some from out of town.  There is a Walmart just west of I-17 Freeway on Anthem Way, about 13 miles from the event or you can come out to the event site for the night, but be prepared that I will be onsite about 7:30 am - 8:00 am and will need to get the area prepped, so you might need to be up early & moving.

Rock Springs Cafe is 25 Miles North on I-17 from the 101/I-17 Interchange.  It is off of exit 242, the address & link to the map are in the info attachment.

With possibly 50+ teams coming, it is going to be busy out at the site on Friday, so please bring your patience & we will work at getting you placed as quickly as we can.

Thank you for supporting this event, AZBarbeque, the Barbeque Championship Series (BCS) & Rock Springs Cafe.  We welcome all of you & your teams & wish you a great, fun time.

Safe Travels, see you next week.

As with every event, we did have some things to add.

Kids Q:  There is a Kids Q competition out at this event.  It is set up differently at this event, so please read the details at:  http://www.azbarbeque.com/forums/3rd-rock-springs-boo-que/kids-q-for-boo-bash-throwdown/  You will need to let us know when no later than the Cooks Meeting if you have a kid competing in this event.  We need to know the number of kids competing so we can properly staff the judging for it.

Gas Station:  There is a Gas Station located right here by the Venue and it is open 24 hours in case you need any gas for your generators.

Weather: Right now, it's calling for low to mid 80's during the day & down to low 50's at night.  That means it will be cooler out there at night, come prepared with warm layers or clothing.

Trick or Treating at the Booths - Friday night has been advertised as an opportunity for the public to come out & see the event, meet all the teams, enjoy the Haunted Booths & bring their Kids around to Trick or Treat.  I don't think we will have a lot of activity, but you never know.  You might pick up a bag of candy to have available just in case so we can make the experience good for any kids that do come out.

Team List:  The Current Team List can be found by visiting http://www.azbarbeque.com/forums/3rd-rock-springs-boo-que/team-list-for-rock-springs-cafe-boo-bash-bbq-throwdown/  I will continue to update it if Teams are added.

California Teams.  If you are coming in on I-10, when you start to get into the Valley, look for Loop 303/Cotton Lane.  Head North on it and it will eventually meet up with I-17 far up in the North Valley.  This will enable you to totally bypass town.

Thursday Night Roll-Ins - I do have several teams who are coming in on Thursday.  If you plan to do so, you need to let me know in advance.  I will not be out there until after 4 pm that day.

Arrivals still begin at 9 am on Friday, if you get there before then, please park to the right of the event area after you pull in.  We have a lot of teams coming in throughout the day

Travel safely, we look forward to seeing you out there.

Is there a grocery store nearby in case we forget something? (I always forget something.)

Is there ice nearby?

Ice is there at the venue, $1/bag.

The closest Grocery store is going to be about 15 miles away, so try to stock up before you get out here...

One of the fun things about Rock Springs is you have the cafe right there for dinner or a great breakfast in the morning. (Bathrooms too!) Plus, the saloon is a blast, although probably not as much fun as hanging out in the team compound, having Buds with your buddies.

The big supermarkets are indeed way back towards Phoenix. But there is an IGA market a half-mile north of Rock Springs Cafe along Old Black Canyon Highway-- the same road that the competition site is on. It's one of the few places that consistently fries up one of my favorites-- gizzards. :P

Can I just say how thrilled I am that we don't have to use parsley this weekend?  Then again, I have no idea how I would present it any other way.
