We have 4 Categories on Friday Night.
Pie, BBQ Appetizer, Salsa & Sauce.
The Pie & BBQ Appetizer entry fees are included already with your main event entry. The Sauce & Salsa ones are $5 per with a Max of 3 per category.
Pie contest - The Pies can be made on or off site, but MUST be personally made by someone on your team, not bought or made by a neighbor who's not on your team.
BBQ Appetizer Contest - This entry MUST be cooked on site on your BBQ. It can be cooked on any type of grill, smoker, propane, etc., but has to be cooked on site. You may prep it ahead of time, but it has to be cooked at the event.
Salsa - This can be prepared ahead of time, but once again, MUST be made from scratch by someone on your team, not a friend or neighbor, etc. Teams can turn these entries in from 7 pm - 7:30 pm on Friday Night. The container must have enough Salsa for 6 judges to taste. These do NOT need to be decorated platters with individual cups. Just turn it in in one container.
Sauce - This can be prepared ahead of time, but once again, MUST be made from scratch by someone on your team, please don't turn in a friend's sauce or a sauce that's already out on the market. This is to see who can make the best Sauce.
Best Haunted Booth Contest - This is a very fun category & pays out just like one of the 4 meat categories, so there is some good money in this category. This category DOES NOT count toward the Overall Scores of the event, it is a stand alone category. Have fun with this one, but be safe. We will have judges coming around between 7 - 9:30 pm on Friday to judge this. Judging will be done on Overall Theme, Creativity, Uniqueness & Participation of Team Members.
Kids & Adult Costume Contest - Rock Springs Cafe will be running this contest, so dress in your best costume & come on out & have fun.
BBQ Booth Trick or Treating - This will happen both Friday & Saturday, so please if you can, bring some candy for the Trick or Treaters that could be coming by.

Do you have to be part of one of the teams already competing to enter the sauce competition? It looks like I'm going to be able to make it out there as a spectator (so maybe I can learn some things!), but I was curious to see if I could enter the sauce contest. If not, no big deal, but I figured I'd ask. Thanks!

You can enter the Sauce if you want. It's $5 per sauce, you can pay at the event.

That's up to you, at least 6 slices, but if you turn in the entire pie, then our volunteers get some as well.

Enough for 6 judges, they don't need a lot, but at least enough to properly judge & taste it..

Hey Mike, What are the turn in times for the various categories? I think we are doing everything... (I always say I do too many things and I am going to slow down, but I can't pass up some opportunities).

Turn in times are as follows:
Pie - 7 pm
BBQ Appetizer - 7:30 pm
Sauce & Salsa - anytime between 7 - 7:30 pm. All entries MUST be in by 7:30 pm.
Haunted Booth Judging will be from about 7 pm - 10 pm...
