Hey all, this year's event in Springerville is just going to be a BBQ Festival/Rib Burn/Social/Charity Event.
We will be doing just a Rib Only comp. The Fee to enter is just $25/team. This fee goes to offset the cost of our great BCS Head Judges who come out & help us have a great event.
Mike is working on getting a bunch of ribs donated so we can cook them up and help raise some money for the charity associated with this year's event, the Round Valley Historical Society (www.facebook.com/SpringervilleHeritageCenter)
The Event this year will be at 418 E. Main Street, Springerville, AZ. There is a large grassy area for trailers, its at the police department, there is a playground on location, water and electricity (110 Only).
The cost to attend this year is just $25 and we do ask that everyone coming help out with the 2 main meals each day (Breakfast & Dinner) as well as help cook up some ribs & great food for the public and the charity. We will have more info on this later.
Please post up if you are coming and which meals you can assist with and what you will bring/make.
Dates are: Labor Day weekend.
Thursday - September 1st, 2016 (Dinner only this day)
Friday - September 2nd, 2016 (Breakfast & Dinner)
Saturday - September 3rd, 2016 (Breakfast & Dinner)
Sunday - September 4th, 2016 (Everyone is on their own for this day)
This will be our 2nd event like this and we are excited to be once again teaming up with the city of Springerville & Mike & Mary Nuttall.
I will also create a Facebook event page for this event, please help share & promote this event as we would love to have as many of our AZBarbeque members & BBQ Enthusists there as possible.
If you don't want to camp out, there are several hotels in Springerville.
The Rode Inn is once again a great sponsor for the event. Let them know you are with the BBQ Comp & Mike Nuttall & they will have a special rate for us.

We just recently formed our team - Root'n Toot'n BBQ. We competed in Show Low Throw Down and really enjoyed it! Loved meeting all the teams. We are looking forward to participating in this event!!!! Our application will be in the mail next week.

How many racks are given out exactly and what are the turn in rules,times,etc.?

Pat, not sure on the amount of racks given, depends upon how many we get donated. Last year I believe each team got at least 6 racks to cook and those that could cook more did so for the public.
Turn in time is High Noon on Saturday. Rules are BCS Rules, http://barbequechampionshipseries.org/rules.php

Don't want to compete, that's OK too. Get up out of the Valley heat & just come hang out with us. Want to help cook the ribs for the public, you can do that too.
This event is more of a social event than a comp, so come on up and enjoy a fun weekend.

This event is really shaping up nicely.
I think we are at 10 teams now and have a few more we are hoping sign up.
Thanks to BBQ Island, Famous Dave's, Anthony Spices, Swimming in Smoke & Loot 'N Booty for stepping up and helping to sponsor the event.
If you are interested in competing, please let me know ASAP. If you are not sure, but think you might, at least get the Health permit turned in so that you don't have to worry about that.
If you are interested in the event, but not competing, that's great as well. Come on out and join us for a fun event. Bring a chair & cooler & come hang out.
The Appetizer Party on Friday night is open to everyone, even if you are not competing in the rib competition, so cook up something fun and tasty & bring enough to share.

One week from today we will be rolling into Springerville.
Still time to sign your team up if you want to come join us. Just $25 to enter and we give you the ribs.
We have at least $1000 in prize money, so come on up and join us.
If you don't want to compete, we invite you to still come on up and support the event.
Join us on Friday night for the Appetizer Party (Everyone can enter this, even if you are not competing in the Rib Throwdown)
Bring a chair & hang out with us, it's going to be beautiful up there.
If you have an ATV or UTV, bring it, we will be going on some rides up there as well with our own local guide. Mike has offered up once again to take us on a scenic tour. Don't miss out.

Ok, here are a few more details for this weekend's event.
Cook's meeting will the held once again at one of our sponsor's, Avery's BBQ located at 262 W Main St, Springerville, AZ 85938 This is on Friday night from 4:30 pm - 5:30 pm.
The appetizer party will be after that at about 7 pm at the event site.
The "After Party" will once again be at Goob's Pizza on Saturday after the event. We will meet there about 6 pm. 211 S Mountain Ave, Springerville, AZ 85938
