Eat at Joe's is rapidly becoming known for some of the best Barbecue in Arizona.
The dream began 14 years ago when Joe purchased 80 acres in Wikieup, and realized the options for dining out were fairly slim. Joe spent many years cooking in restaurants as well as many driving semi's, and always in search of good Barbecue. He came across some of the best and lot of the worst. Being a long time outdoor cook, he paid attention at his favorite places, taking note of what worked and what didn't. In 2004, a building he had been eyeing for years suddenly went on the market, and he immediately went after it, and secured the purchase. Another year was spent renovating, painting, and installing brand new, fresh clean restrooms, as well as perfecting recipes, cooking times, and smoking. They opened in Sept of 2005, and have been going strong ever since, with a consistent "Excellent" rating from the health dept. All meats are smoked and prepared right on the premises, using real local mesquite, and a large J&R oyler for a smoker. There is also a small stage inside the restaurant where locals, and patrons may entertain guests. The beer is always cold, the iced tea fresh, and the service is second to none. So the next time you are passing through, or need an excuse for a day trip, come out to Joe's and find out what we mean when we say "It's worth the trip from anywhere." |
