Brooksies.
Jerry and Doris Brooks were married in December of 1998 and opened Brooksies on March 1st of 1999 Jerry worked in the automotive repair business for over 20 years and Doris is employed at the City of Phoenix (she has the health insurance) plus her income is very important . We knew we wanted to make propane our main part of the business but we were unsure of what else to put with the propane. We decided to sell southwest gifts and décor we knew it was a weird mix but it worked for several years. In 2003 we saw the beginning of the end for the southwest items so we renovated a part of the building and turned it into a Bead shop and that is still hanging on even in these hard times. We still weren’t sure what to do with the rest of the store and had been selling firewood for a couple of years The firewood was starting to pick up a little more each year so we decided to invest more into the firewood, and added camping and BBQ supplies. We feel that after 10 years we finally found who we are. BBQ supplies have been a big hit with our propane customer base that we have built over the years. Our store isn’t very large so instead of grills we focused on selling BBQ and camping supplies. We are trying to be a specialty store for smoking supplies chips, chunks, cordwood, sauces, rubs and spices. We also handle the Weber smoker and most of Weber supplies. We will continue to search for new and different items that apply to BBQ, smoking, and camping.
As all of you know when you own your own Mom/Pop business you get to work the B shift ( you know you have to B there every day). It also takes a lot of help from the family members when you need things done that you just don’t have the money to pay some one to do for you.
We are so happy to have found AZBarbeque and we look forward to having a great time with all of its members Thanks for taking the time to read this
